Why isn't this on the launcher? I feel as if adding a button for a list of bugs or issues that need dealing with in the launcher would be a good idea, as with the amount of posts with similar issues in "bug reports" is quite abundant. It would mean continuous updating for the launcher, but it might be worth it in the long run. I don't know, though. Maybe people won't click on it. eh.
:cyclid: I guess it would be possible to include a link to the bugs subforum or to Issues on GithubBut I don't think there is a way to force people to read through them before posting. So I'm not going to spend time doing this, though pull requests for the launcher are welcome.

The ffmpeg version from fedora-handbrake repo is the one that needs that ilbc library.
This is the version I have installed:
Name : ilbc Arkkitehtuu : x86_64 Epoch : 0 Versio : 1.1.1 Release : 9.fc24 Koko : 98 k Repo : @System From repo : fedora Summary : Internet Low Bitrate Codec License : BSD Description : iLBC (internet Low Bitrate Codec) is a FREE speech codec suitable : for robust voice communication over IP. The codec is designed for : narrow band speech and results in a payload bit rate of 13.33 : kbit/s with an encoding frame length of 30 ms and 15.20 kbps with : an encoding length of 20 ms. The iLBC codec enables graceful : speech quality degradation in the case of lost frames, which : occurs in connection with lost or delayed IP packets.
Which may be the last version in 1.x series. You probably have a version from the 2.x series. They are probably not binary compatible, thus the last digit in the library file name has been changed to a 2. But if you can't compile or otherwise get an older version you could instead delete 'libavcodec' and other ffmpeg libraries from the thrive folder and install ffmpeg 3.3 (that's the very latest version and it is required, most distributions probably won't have that)

Looks like the version you installed is too new. Is there a package named
libilbc0 on linux mint? Something like that should hopefully include
libilbc.so.0

I got this after the intro video: Access violation - code c0000005 (first/second chance not available)
igd10iumd64 igd10iumd64 d3d11 Thrive_Win64_Shipping!FD3D11DynamicRHI::RHIUpdateTexture2D() Thrive_Win64_Shipping!FDynamicRHI::UpdateTexture2D_RenderThread() Thrive_Win64_Shipping!`FTextureHelper::UpdateTextureRegions'::`5'::EURCMacro_UpdateTextureRegionsData::DoTask() [c:\users\henri\documents\unreal projects\thrive\source\thrive\generation\texturehelper.cpp:37] Thrive_Win64_Shipping!TGraphTask<`FTextureHelper::UpdateTextureRegions'::`5'::EURCMacro_UpdateTextureRegionsData>::ExecuteTask() [c:\program files\epic games\ue_4.15\engine\source\runtime\core\public\async\taskgraphinterfaces.h:907] Thrive_Win64_Shipping!FNamedTaskThread::ProcessTasksNamedThread() Thrive_Win64_Shipping!FNamedTaskThread::ProcessTasksUntilQuit() Thrive_Win64_Shipping!RenderingThreadMain() Thrive_Win64_Shipping!FRenderingThread::Run() Thrive_Win64_Shipping!FRunnableThreadWin::Run() The only thing I could think of your fps being so low that the buffers for the texture update get deleted before the render thread has a chance to apply them. I made a new commit to switch to a one time buffers, which are deleted by the render thread so that shouldn't happen. Once you get it building or a compile a new version you should test again. This is the commit: github.com/Revolutionary-Games/Thrive/commit/6def8082ee5b2668ffad512510f0e2efa248f322

LoginId:417b93e6475352975e0d189f63665f26 EpicAccountId: You do not have any debugging symbols required to display the callstack for this crash. I'm not sure whats up but I'm glad it at least doesn't flip out and cause an unholy demon screech from my laptop. The sound plays normally in the intro movie showing the thrive logo. Then the screen goes black and it force closes itself. Could you try downloading the debugging symbols I added to my second post to see whether that gives you a callstack of the crash.

If you get a crash please describe what happened before the crash, any possible error messages and the logs from Thrive/Saved/Logs To (hopefully) get a callstack if it crashes download this zip and unzip the file into Thrive/Binaries/Win64. That's the folder where there is Thrive-Win64-Shipping.exe That should hopefully make the crash window have a callstack you can post here.

Edit: this is outdated see: revolutionarygamesstudio.com/devblog-13-engine-dilemma/This is a test release of a small demo sample of all the technologies (libraries and such) that will be used by Thrive when/if we go ahead with the engine switch. That's why this is very important for as many people as possible to test that this doesn't crash or lag horribly.
Here are the files for linux and windows (both 64 bit): boostslair.com/files/temp/thrive-ue4/second/Please post anything you notice regarding how well it runs or if it crashes, issues with the menu look and movement aren't really relevant at this point. Also if you are on the team (or otherwise plan on contributing) I'd appreciate if you tried building the new version. Instructions here: github.com/Revolutionary-Games/Thrive/blob/ue4/BUILDING.mdAdditionally you should clone the ue4 branch to a new folder to make sure no left over files cause issues.

That does certainly look quite promising. I was also thinking about using something like rsync to manage the downloading and the delta downloads.

i.imgur.com/QD9UzuN.pngi.imgur.com/x73xcnb.pngThe first image shows the console window after a crash I get after going through the tutorial. For reproducing it, I must spend more than a certain time in the tutorial (a minute or so; if I complete in less than that, it doesn't crash), then I go through the editor to the environment. It only crashes when I start moving or shortly after. I also got another crash (console window in the second image) whenever I try to load a previous saved game from the main menu. Loading from the environment works for me. Hope it's helpful . I still can't understand why some players experience the Microbes missing their species component and causing a crash. This is implemented in Lua which should work the same on different systems, right? Unlike graphics and things like that... I did try to add a lot more debugging code. To test could you replace your thrive scripts folder with the folder in this zip: boostslair.com/files/temp/thrive/scripts.7z

Hello, hhyyrylainen! I just follow the tutorial. In the redactor no tutorial appears.I modify my cell, press "finish" and it freezes.Oh, and sometimes, after adding and deleting a part, a copy of it appears in the nucleus. This one appears to be a purely grafical glitch tho. The tutorial is known to crash. You can skip the tutorial by pressing Escape when it starts. Many people have reported that skipping the tutorial avoids the crash.

Hello everybody! As i mentioned, i play on W7. Whenever i try to exit the cell redactor, the game freezes completely and all i can do is force my PC to shut down. Is this a bug, or there is some way to fix this issue without just waiting for the next update and hoping for the best? P.S. I know that i probably made a lot of mistakes.Sorry.English is not my first language! Could you describe as accurately as possible the steps that cause this bug after you hit "New Game"? That would be really helpful in locating the exact issue / place where it happens.

Side note: we probably need to use regular zip files in future to prevent this sort of confusion. I've changed the executable name to "Thrive Launcher" in the latest versions (removed the dash '-' and capitalized). Also I used 7zip to get smaller archives (and I didn't realize there existed people who hadn't heard of 7z, or couldn't google can't find program error for .7z files). I just tested and .zip archives are 51% larger. So it definitely speeds up downloads. And if we have to host it ourselves, our server bandwidth usage. But, It wouldn't be too difficult to have both zip and 7zip archives available if this truly is a problem. Or maybe there's a tool for creating installers for people who like that sort of easy/automatic thing, but that won't be in the initial release.

He said it was something else though... Oh, right, I missed that post. Then I have no clue unless he can describe exactly when that error happens.

Which file are you running that gets this error? I'm guessing he's trying to open the zip, but he doesn't have 7zip installed so he gets that instead of being able to extract it.

why can't i open it it says it needs a default program assigned to it You need 7zip ( www.7-zip.org/) in order to unzip it. Or did you manage to unzip it already, and it's something else?

In case you haven't been following the developer forums, we are getting a launcher for thrive. It's going to be released soon, so I wanted to ask people to test it before we post it everywhere. Downoad it here (Windows 32/64 and Linux builds are available). Check the thread about it here: forum.revolutionarygamesstudio.com/t/launcher/335/

Do you guys have any more ideas that could be put in the game right now? There might be some achievements in the next release and I'd like to add more variety. I'm looking for more things like what Oliveriver said.

Did you play in fullscreen mode? If you did it is known to mess with your desktop resolution. So the solution is to play in windowed mode until Ogre developers (the graphics engine we are using) fix their broken fullscreen mode. Also antiviruses are really bad with small software releases because they think all new files they haven't seen before are viruses. One of our developers had an issue with norton deleting half of the game's files. If you'd like to help us with that you could send the thrive files to your antivirus software's false positive reporting service. Additionally if you think the download is a virus you can read through all the source code (it's all here: github.com/Revolutionary-Games/Thrive ) and even compile the game from scratch so you can be certain that it doesn't contain viruses. Though it will still have the resolution issue.

The game's intro seemed to go by way too fast. The rest of the game played normally until it tried to show the player's microbe, then it crashed. I'm running Linux though so that may be why You need at least ffmpeg 3.2 for the video to play correctly. (Not my fault, blame ffmpeg devs deprecating things way too fast) I also got a crash, when testing on a virtual machine, when a cell tried to render, so that's probably caused by it needing some advanced shaders to render that. I already posted this on slack, but here's a release for linux compiled by me: boostslair.com/files/thrive/Thrive-0.3.3.rc1.7z
