Please don't hurt it Windows release candidate Linux release candidate
lol, jk. Make it cry This is the last release before our major outreach effort, so it should be as polished and bug-free as possible. When posting a bug please include the following helpful information: 1) Description of the bug with all the accompanying error information from the console (e.g. game screen becomes black and unresponsive; the music is still playing and I can see the GUI.) 2) How to replicate the bug (e.g. enter the editor from the main menu, then add a vacuole, and exit to the cell stage) 3) Screenshots are helpful. Press PrtSc and then upload the image from the bin folder (titled screenshot.png) to imgur and post the link here. Here are the new features: - Compound Clouds!
- Revamped compound and processes system
- Fluid cell membrane
- Moving organelles
- Tinted organelles to be the same color as the membrane
- Lots of Linux fixes... again
- An in-game tutorial to help people understand what to do
- More refined tooltips
There are likely other features that I am forgetting about, so post them in the comments with your bugs.

I noticed that you cannot read a part of the tutorial after leaving the editor because the text box and the compound box are overlapping

I noticed that you cannot read a part of the tutorial after leaving the editor because the text box and the compound box are overlapping Yeah, that's part of the whole clunky GUI issue. It's especially prevalent if you're on a small resolution monitor. You can try closing the compound box by pressing the bottom right corner.

Two things, one very minor the other quite major: - There's no instruction to press the question mark to remove the panel in the editor during the tutorial. - Engulfment seems to be broken in several ways. On my first playthrough, nothing seemed to be able to engulf anything. Even when the engulfing cells were flashing blue and I was in contact with them for ages I never took any damage and collision didn't turn off. After sitting next to one for several seconds in this state the game crashed. I tried to take a screenshot of the console but it messed up, so unfortunately I don't know what was going on. When trying to recreate the error on my second playthrough everything was working fine, except for three things: the engulfer sometimes took so long to remove my hitpoints I was literally through it and out the other side once I died, on respawning after engulfment I took a bit of damage for no reason, and another time when respawning after engulfment I could only move very slowly. So yeah...not totally bug-free. But everything else worked absolutely perfectly and the tutorial in particular feels brilliant, so some progress has been made.

Okay, I found a bug that causes crashing during engulfment if someone with toxins was killed. Engulfment takes away 15 percent of your max health a second, I guess I could make it stronger. Don't know what causes the extra damage after death though.

I love the new backgrounds, they are great. Can something be done about the compounds gui element at the bottom? Could the box with the numbers in be moved to the bottom right so it doesn't take up so much room? How hard would that be? Just to get rid of the panel behind it and move the box with the numbers in.

I don't really know how the GUI elements work. You are better of asking jjonj or oliveriver.

Just finished playing. Had alot of fun, this is starting to turn into an actual game! My only gripe is that I didn`t seem to be able to produce OxyToxy (glitch?).

Sweeet!
A couple of things I noticed: I occasionally crashed on respawn, which has likely something to do with the background-changing thing? Twice, I saw the compound clouds suddenly be replaced by new ones in new locations. Oxytoxy now seems to do way more, which can make a single unlucky encounter with a Predator fatal. Also the whole taking-damage-after-respawn thing. Also, I noticed, every time I was circling around a Predator to avoid its deadly toxins, that I would randomly take damage even though its toxins were nowhere close to hitting me. In the editor, the Mutation Points text is a bit too large, so a bit of it is cropped off. The console no longer works - pressing ` doesn't bring it up anymore. (Also, it never really worked in the first place: if I wanted to type in suicide(), it would close the moment I typed in the right parenthesis. I would need to have the command saved to my clipboard then pasted into the console in order for it to work) I like the new colored nuclei and I'm glad you fixed the white nucleus bug.
I suppose I'll keep searching.

There's no instruction to press the question mark to remove the panel in the editor during the tutorial. Not sure what you mean because this is literally the last line of the help panel: "Press the question mark button to the bottom left to close or open this menu." The engulfer sometimes took so long to remove my hitpoints I was literally through it and out the other side once I died I increased the damage to 25% per second from 15%, is it better or should I make death even faster? respawning after engulfment I took a bit of damage for no reason Should be fixed, hopefully. My only gripe is that I didn`t seem to be able to produce OxyToxy Moopli said he couldn't find out what was causing this. Well, it isn't as rigid and boring as before. I saw the compound clouds suddenly be replaced by new ones in new locations. Yeah I noticed that happen sometimes, but I don't know what exactly causes it. I think it's when you move diagonally, though I'm not sure. Oxytoxy now seems to do way more, which can make a single unlucky encounter with a Predator fatal Yep. Also, I noticed, every time I was circling around a Predator to avoid its deadly toxins, that I would randomly take damage even though its toxins were nowhere close to hitting me. Yeah, the toxin system needs an overhaul, but it works for now. The console no longer works - pressing ` doesn't bring it up anymore. I believe it was disabled after we couldn't fix it. My game crashed whenever I tried to load a save state. I'll look into it. also can a scroll function using the + - key be implomented for those with mouses that are broke I've added it.

Even if there's a very clear instruction to press the question mark to close the window, players are still probably going to click anyway because they would've gotten used to clicking to close the windows. I think that all of the windows should be closeable with left-click or escape, maybe the press of a 'Continue' button if you want to add something like that in the future. Also, the use of the old window design there all of a sudden is kind of startling. Personally, I think you should've kept the old design for all of the windows - the new one seems kind of flat and boring, while the old one seems to look fine when its shape is warped, to me at least.

I get this error whenever I try to run it. I'm using Linux Mint.

Looks like we released a build linked against boost 1.60. I don't think we actually need boost 1.60, so I guess it was an oversight. For now, if Mint has a boost 1.60 binary package, you could just install that.
Or is this a build you built yourself?
