The old easter eggs forum thread was locked a while ago, but that was on the development forums. Now we have the community/fan forums, I think it's fine to go a little bit nuts with easter egg suggestions. Here are a couple I've come up with, relating solely to the microbe stage: - When the player starts a new game, their initial ATP level is always 42. Similarly, the words ‘Don’t Panic’ need to appear somewhere in the in-game text.
- If the main menu is left alone for long enough, a spaceship will fly across the screen quite far away, but close enough for the player to read ‘Uteen Toothbrush Supplies’ on the side.
- On incredibly rare occasions, the player may find a rock in the environment in the shape of a microbe, with two googly eyes drawn on it.
What are your thoughts?

Those are good Easter Eggs. I'd like to add my own: Since, Thrive is partly based on the 2005 Spore video, it should be possible to find a fossil of a Willosaurus, somewhere on your starting planet, but only when the player has reached Aware Stage.

Adding the Solar System and Humankind somewhere in the player's galaxy would be pretty cool. The game would treat Humans just like any other race, and they'll evolve/advance randomly. When your species discovers Earth, they might find that Humans have become space faring, or they might discover everything in ruins, thanks to nuclear war.

That's a good idea.
I think that if the player finds humans, they should be found at the stage we are in now. From their discovery however, they'll progress like any other species.
Also, if Earth was in the game, does this mean that so would Earth animals, or would they be completely made up creatures. How would this work?
I definitely agree that Earth should be in the game somehow.
Edit: I had another idea. I know it's not quite an Easter Egg, but it serves a similar purpose: To give the players a little laugh. In the Industrial Stage, it's possible for the players to use newspapers and learn about what is going on in their world. Some newspaper headlines could be humorous and joking. Say for instance, "The Tyrd Empire are celebrating the 210th Bieber Effigy Burning Ceremony Today."
What do you think?

What are your thoughts? You should add an Easter egg in which in a civilization you can see one person walking Sven's smart deepseaworm on a leash like a dog. Either that or it could be a rare encountered creature in the game evolutions.jamaica-focus.com/v/Deco/SmartDeepSeaWorm_20090209_211704.png

I think that in Industrial stage and up, it should be possible to see a sign for Dani's Burritos. (In reference to Daniferrito)

What do you think? Since I discovered Thrive, I thought to myself that some people will try to recreate Earth in the game. It would be interesting to see how animals would evolve, and it would be also interesting to see an "alternative Earth" where humans never existed or where animals from the past evolved differently...

That would almost certainly be attainable in Sandbox Mode, as you could recreate the planet and then put whatever organisms you want on there. However, as it's player made it's not really an Easter Egg.

I think on a frozen planet somewhere there should be a caveman frozen in a block of ice, with his tongue stuck on something like a club.

A cool Easter egg could be an achievement called "Zerg rush" in which a colony of your creatures team up and kill a larger creature.

I like the idea of some small things that could make a player chuckle or go what? Maybe some small inside jokes but nothing that to many people wouldn't get, maybe something like the thrive symbol somewhere in game or something like that. Fun Achievements and names could be a fun thing too, but that's not really an Easter egg

How about having Pioneer 10 and/or Pioneer 11 arriving in your star system or even landing on your planet?

Perhaps some sort of Halo reference? Not like something huge such as a Halo floating around in the middle of the galaxy, but, IDK, something like a quote from some random sentient creature such as "This one's for Jenkins!"

I think that in Industrial stage and up, it should be possible to see a sign for Dani's Burritos. (In reference to Daniferrito) I like the idea of referring to developers in-game in some way. To add to this and the many Uteen references there are likely to be (try and guess who is being referenced with each): - In the Industrial Stage, a meteorite could land on the planet and can be harvested to produce the unique compound 'Cheese' (stolen from Dani's suggestion in the original thread).
- The player could run into a star in the Space Stage called Daniferrito (also stolen from that thread).
- If the player names their species 'Nick', then all individuals of that species in the society stages will be named 'Nick' (if randomised individual naming is a planned thing).
- The player could find a giant teacup-shaped rock formation in the Aware Stage.
- An FP available when creating clothing could be a set of yellow glasses. There could also be a set of scientist goggles with warning labels on them.
- In the Space Stage, some spacefaring species may be tagged 'Untrusted' to warn you that they require caution to deal with.
- On Industrial Stage concert halls, there could be posters advertising a purple and orange version of Beethoven.
- Somewhere hidden deep in the ocean, the player may discover a friendly Cthulu.
Obviously none of these are grounded in feasibility or likelihood anymore, so hooray for wild speculation! I can't think of anything for ~sciocont, moopli, Seregons or US_of_Alaska. Anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe, during the Strategy Mode stages, randomly-generated (but not Dwarf Fortress complexity) novels could be written and have an affect on civilization? And aside from alien language scribbles, there could be images in them as references (like a picture of a Screeble or Willosaur in a book about alien civilizations that increases your people's interest in space exploration)?

There could be an Easter egg in which if you go to a moon-like planet you will find a ripped up astronaut suit and with some alien footprints leading to the other direction like an Apollo 18 reference.

What do you think? If you give descriptions for species/planets, then make humanity's/Earth's description 'Mostly Harmless', with 'Mostly' being written in a different way to 'Harmless'.
A frozen Emperor Palpatine floating in the middle of space, both middle fingers up. As a reference to that one Robot Chicken episode.
