Action: Wait for Female/"Eve" to act.
Male sits quietly, watching the horror story unfold before them (... at least, a horror story for the New Glowey Things). He looks to "Eve" for guidance, and for a moment she does nothing but stare. Then she abruptly dives in, tucking her delicate fins to her belly in a streamlined fashion.
Male follows her into the dark clouds of sand, lighting up periodically. He keeps track of "Eve" because she's lighting back - but other than that, there's no hint of where she is.
Finally the dust disperses, and the creature is revealed. It's a massive beastie with sharp teeth and a primitive jaw a bit stronger than Male and "Eve"s are. Its eyes are wide and slitted like a cat's, and its apparent throat-pouch is bulging with New Glowey Things.
Eve isn't sure what to do, now, but she goes closer to the beast. You're on your own.
Might as well give this thing a name while you decide what to do.

Follow Eve. Sticking together seems to be the present tactic.
As for the ambush predator, it could be called "Giggulper," since it's gigantic, and gulps down whatever it catches.

PURSUE THE FEMALE BEAST WHICH WE HAVE GIVEN THE NAME 'EVE,' AND WE SHALL CONQUER THE OCEAN I like mitobox 's suggestion of 'Giggulper,' though I think 'Gigagulper' is a bit easier to pronounce.

I agree with Cobalt on the name, and at this point it would be pointless to disagree with the group consensus, so pencil me down as a follower of Eve.

Action: Follow Eve and go closer.
With a bit of hesitation, he follows his new companion closer to the wide-mouthed Gigagulper, his feelers twitching slightly with the electric pulses coming off the beast. He watches Eve as she circles nervously around it, just out of reach of its maw - hopefully.
Suddenly the Gigagulper awakens, and its wide eyes snap directly onto the two creatures - its focus is immaculate, and the two species stare.
Suddenly it opens its mouth and starts to puff up. Two thick fins rise on its back, growing red. Then it suddenly lets out a burst of water that seems to last forever.
Both creatures go flying into the deep.
When they stop, they aren't where they initially were. Male opens his eyes to a much brighter world; there are columns of light coming down from the surface and dancing on the sand with the wobble of the water. White Glowey Things dart among the soft green plant bulbs, and it seems another tiny new thing has entered its world with a fascination to the newcomer, bumping all over his body.
... Where's Eve?
After searching around with his not-so-perfect eyesight, he finally found her via tail lights. He swims closer and finds her midsection-deep in the sand, scooping it out continually. Her tail seems to be covered in something goopy and round.
Hunger: Fair Health: Great
[x] Go explore and eat along the way. [x] Pull Eve out of the hole. [x] Go and dig another hole. [x] Investigate Eve's tail.

Ohana means family. And family means no one gets left behind. We should pull Eve from the hole.

She's a bit busy digging so I say we inspect her tail instead of interrupting her digging.

That goopy stuff might not just be sand...
Anyway, pulling her out could make quite the difference.

Action: Pull her out of the hole.
Male Belgiums his head at his digging compatriot, wondering what the heck she was doing in there. His feelers twitched with faint thought, rolling in his consideration for a moment before swimming forward. He put his hard little primitive 'teeth' on her tail, feeling the little round things pop under the pressure. Something tiny, kind of like a very small fiber of yarn, falls out of each one: but he doesn't pay attention to that.
However, he does pay attention to Eve's intense reaction.
She suddenly rounds on him, letting out a hiss and puffing out her feelers, snapping her jaw directly on top of his. She manages to make indents in his thin muzzle before he lets go, and he tastes his first occurrence of... bloodshed? Close enough. Male scoots back, whimpering in pain, while Eve plunks herself into her newly-dug hole and shakes off the remaining goopy round things. They stick to the edges of the hole, and once they're all off her tail, Even comes back out and shovels sand back into the hole, effectively hiding the precious cargo.
Looking at the little fibers, something in Male's head click: Those little things are babies!
Health: Great Hunger: Fair
[x] Keep following Male & Eve. [x] Follow the next generation.
