Since I want to generate some interesting discussion, I'm going back to a topic I found interesting long ago on the old forum: NickTheNick's outline of the Squad Editor, which is used in the later stages to design army units. The original thread is here, although I've copied the OP to the Wiki to save people having to set foot in the ad-riddled world of Canadaboards. I know my personal favourite concept is the possibility to use organisms which have evolved on your planet as war machines, such as being used to draw chariots or carry artillery. What do you think is interesting about this idea? What do you think of it as a whole?

Fixed...I hope? I haven't bookmarked anything so it didn't show up for me, which meant I didn't know it wasn't there.

Impressive!
If only I could afford to pay for a music video of my own...

This is really cool! It's interesting to note that I at some point broke 1,000 without realising it. Is there a way to see average word count per post on the forum? Average unicode usage? Total number of image links? I feel like there's some interesting metrics that could be revealed with the right tools, but my intense five seconds of effort to find them yielded nothing. Almost certainly not sadly. Proboards is pretty bad for general statistics anyway, and those are very specific things I'd be surprised to see on any forum.

Does it contain everyone that has been online lately, or literally everyone? Because I know most members on the list, so I'm guessing only if they have been online lately Removing Nick from the list for the sake of realism, this is the actual graph for everyone with >100 posts: If you're referring to the graphs, there's your answer.

Partly to procrastinate doing other things, I decided to look at the post statistics on the Members page (you can order by post number by clicking the posts column header) and made this graph. Oh. NickTheNick apparently has 374,000,000 posts, which skews it slightly. Presumably he or someone else edited his profile to give him a post number higher than the total posts of this forum (21,040), the dev forum (2,131) and the old forum (30,851) combined. No, we don't know why either. I hope he remembers how many posts he actually has... Removing Nick from the list for the sake of realism, this is the actual graph for everyone with >100 posts: Atrox wins quite decisively. He has just under 10% of all posts ever made on this forum. There are probably other interesting observations, but I must get back to the things I'm supposed to be doing.

I think everyone's confused by assuming people know things they don't, so I'm going from the very beginning. Apologies if I've simplified things too much. RoboTrannic When you downloaded the launcher, what you got was a file called thrive-launcher-win32-x64.7z, correct? This is the folder people are referring to. It's not immediately obvious that it isn't a file. Download and install 7zip, then right click on thrive-launcher-win32-x64.7z and choose 7zip -> Extract files. That will give you the folder. Within that there's an application called thrive-launcher, which you need to run to make the launcher work. If you're still having problems after all that, then yes, that's a definite issue. Side note: we probably need to use regular zip files in future to prevent this sort of confusion.

I've hijacked mitobox's OP to add a poll, because I'd like to see which themes people are using. If you didn't already know, you can change the theme by going to Profile -> Edit Profile -> Settings and picking from the Forum Theme drop down.

I've added the old lizard. I feel like most elements should become greenish instead of blue if it stays.

I accidentally ate up my entire afternoon adding two feeds to the website home page and changing the forum layout/colour scheme. It started as an attempt to standardise the header links across the website, dev forum and here, but ended up more extensive. Narotiza and Atrox also helped. I'm still not sure about it. I wasn't sure about the old colour scheme either, but the perfectionist in me wanted to try something different. We still have the old colour scheme saved, but for now, tell us what you think and if you have any alternative suggestions.

I may or may not have integrated an RSS feed into the Slack group. This means that anytime a post is made in one of a selection of our web presences, a notification will pop up in the Slack group. Hopefully this should make us more responsive to people's discussions. This is a test post.

it'll still take time to implement, which could've been spend on other things Adding gore of any kind will take time implement, which could've been spent on other things. I really don't understand the need for gore at all costs some of you have. Gore for gore's sake will do nothing for the game.

Since hhyyrylainen might be adding a few achievements into the game for the next release, I've decided to make some which work in the game as it stands right now. Of course, he might add some of his own anyway. I'm hoping Narotiza might pick these up to make more icons. Sluuuuurp
Engulf another microbe. Sluuuuur-oh
Die while engulfing another microbe. Living in Harmony
Listen to every piece of music in the game for at least 10 seconds in one play session. Punctuated Equilibrium
Enter and exit the editor without making any changes, then use up all 100 Mutation Points in your next editor session. Flagellant
Have 10 flagella on your microbe. Huh, we didn't think the game was this stable yetPlay for 15 minutes without crashing.
