One other advantage is Discourse's more advanced RSS feed, which allows notifications for specific categories if I recall correctly. So we could integrate it with our existing feeds more effectively than with this current forum.

We're going to try setting up a new forum with blackjack and hookers hosted on our own domain, similar to the development forum. I've made the domain and handed things over to hhyyrylainen , so stay tuned. It may end up not replacing this one but it's worth a test.

My bad. I moved its subforum so now that should be possible.

I’ll give it until Monday. I would like developers as well as fans to chime in here.

Hi everyone. We've been having a lot of spam attacks from bots on this forum recently, which necessitates a lot of thread purging. Unfortunately it seems somebody accidentally deleted the FAQ thread along with them. Proboards doesn't let you restore deleted threads so for a while I thought we were screwed. However, thanks to my suddenly useful archiving work, all the FAQ questions are still on the wiki. We just need Moopli to login as Admin and make a new thread. So if we just want a replacement FAQ all is well. It's come to my attention that this forum host isn't great. Minimal spam protection, limited customisability, only a few plugins, unrecoverable deleted threads, redirecting visitors to ad websites (especially on mobile), etc. We could take this as a kick in the pants to move elsewhere to a forum we host ourselves, as we do with the development forum. Discourse does have some migration features but they require access to all the backend databases of this forum, which I doubt we have. If it's possible to migrate with everyone's posts and/or profiles intact then I see no reason not to right away. If not, it's a choice between sticking with it and dealing with any problems this site causes, or making yet another forum and requiring everyone to sign up and start fresh there. What do you think?

Aaaand now they're all back. Well, seems I was freaking out over nothing. I'll keep this thread open in case others have this issue in future.

It's an interesting idea. I tried it for a bit and really liked having big clouds to gather a lot of resources, but I never found an oxygen cloud because they were too spread out and died from lack of ATP.

For future reference, it might be useful to have a post with all the images in so we don't have to look back through previous pages. Also notify me whenever it's near the end of a month so I can make announcements about it.

Go into the bin folder inside Thrive and delete ogre.cfg. When the Ogre configuration box comes up next time you play, change the resolution to the resolution of your PC and see if that helps.

Wait for a few others to weigh in. I also didn't realise you'd been leaving them on YouTube discussion pages (that serves me right for skim-reading) - I don't think big YouTubers (250,000 subs is still big in my book) check there that often.
EDIT: Something else: we know very well what we need to do to the game to improve it, so asking for feedback in that respect is useless. What we need is the publicity to get more people involved.

The sentiment is good but I'd be extremely hesitant about this. The game as it is will not impress many who review games for a living. Who were you planning on contacting?

How do you get the image to be that big? You need to host the image somewhere else (in this case Atrox used Imgur) and embed the image via its URL.

As you'll have noticed in the original thread, the main voice against underwater civs was ~sciocont. He was head of the project for several years, but hasn't been seen in just as long. He made a Tumblr post detailing every argument that had come up with his own refutations, but sadly the page no longer exists. However, your main point ignores anything he could have said there: why stick so close to realism when a slight botch gives you access to much more gameplay? Last year we created a survey for the Thrive community. This was one question, and it suggests our general fanbase isn't stickler-ish about realism either. We've bended the rules in other areas, such as the inclusion of thermosynthesis (a fictional chemical process) alongside photosynthesis. The solution here was to include it under a LAWK (Life As We Know it) option when the player starts the game. If LAWK is enabled, thermoplasts and other unrealistic abilities will be locked. It's possible underwater civilisations could go the same way - have them playable when LAWK is off. My issue tended to be that suggestions for how one would create an underwater civilisation were always finnickity, creating organic suits to walk on land to smelt metal or something like that. Putting things like this in the game would feel needlessly complex compared to the level of detail in the rest of the Society stage. Using underwater vents is simpler so may be acceptable. Really though, I doubt there's anyone on the team vehemently opposed to having underwater civilisations in the game anymore. We could try and dredge up ~sciocont if you want a proper conversation, but I doubt anyone here now feels strongly about it either way, we're just repeating what the old guys said. It's become so much of a meme now that including them in the game would feel like a betrayal. The thing is, this is a conversation for way in the future, if we even get there. It's why it's a banned topic on the development forums - not because the answer is no, but because it serves no function to the team as it currently exists. Discussing them is allowed here though, and anyone who says the mods are going to strike you down for suggesting it is wrong.

Why not have customization options for the GUI? Because that's a whole lot of extra work for something which should be unnecessary if the base GUI is designed effectively.
