Here's another.
Name: Pratumandus Description: Pratumandes (or Pratumandi) are a species of medium sized, extremely dim-witted, herbivorous organisms. In appearance they resemble the Earth based species Placerias hesternus (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/18/Placerias_hesternus.jpg). They are very bulky, with short stocky legs holding them close to the ground, a small tail, and a very thick hide on their back, limbs, and head. However, their underbelly is very vulnerable, and if they fall, or a predator manages to knock them over, they make a helpless meal. On their snout they have two broad and blunt tusks with which they dig into the ground, and then start ploughing through with their mouths. They eat by consuming the whole top layer of soil with all its shrubs, roots, grasses, as well as any microorganisms found there. Interestingly, they are also able to digest many of the nutrients found in the soil they ingest. Pratumandes travel in large herds which helps protect them, however small attackers are helpless anyways against their thick hides. Often small attackers can even be found harassing groups of Pratumandes, while they continue to graze mindlessly. The arrival of a Pratumandus herd to an ecosystem can devastate the topsoil for months, their herds are very slow moving.

The soldiers on the queen respond to the poke by flailing their jaws, snapping and biting at the air where the finger was.
More of the fermented liquid is pooling in the burning hive. Interestingly, sometimes it catches on fire, emitting a different smell than the normal smoke.
The sun is dipping further down. The desert becomes colder, as deserts on Earth tend to at night. Some of the Scurrimps have already fallen asleep, others snack on fruit in bowls and chatter quietly. A single bowl is lit to keep light. Leader is on the lookout for intruders, while Leaf Cloud tries to sleep.

Sorry I've been gone for a while, can we have another general story update? The Dartshooter killed the Ramfopitheque, but the Jungulooth sprung out of the water, biting down onto the branch. This frightened the Dartshooter, although it made an attempt to get at its meal nonetheless. At the grassland boundary, another Dartshooter killed and ate one of the Boundarier hatchlings. Meanwhile, a Hyla is trying to get to a child Ramfopitheque whom screwed with it. This all happened while Seatubes commited plankton genocide. The Boundarier hatchlings found a colony of Obstuphytes (Nick's new species, electric mushrooms). One got too close and was fried. In the mountains, a snowstorm is currently shrouding the lowlands. The Skrawxes are waiting it out. In the deserts beyond the mountains, the Fudd tribe discovered fire and music, while one of their gatherers burned a Splinterbug (my new eusocial insects) colony, forcing them to flee with their queen. Note: Bold text is nonsense on this forum... When I place down bold text, everything I type after it turns bold unless I delete it all and do it again. I've been typing first, then embolding, but it looks like it's screwing it up anyway, and un-bolding it doesn't work. The Dartshooter managed to get a bite out of the Ramfopitheque's leg when he notices that the branche starts to crack. The Dartshooter started panicking, and the Ramfopitheque kept slipping off of the branch. The bug finally decided to abandon his meal and rushed to get to safety on the trunk. The young Ramfopitheque was still watching the climbing Hyla and throw a stick at it.

The Jungulooth is satisfied to see the Dartshooter retreat. However, its mind returns to the problem at hand; the branch it's biting down on is starting to break off the tree. The Ramfopitheque carcass isn't off the branch entirely, either. The Jungulooth thrashes its body, intending to wrench the branch loose. Although it fails to break it, the carcass does fall into the water. The Jungulooth lets go, makes a huge splash, and pushes the corpse ashore; it won't take a while for the toxins to decay. It stays afloat close to the corpse, falling into a light sleep in case something comes for the corpse.

Chief Elmer decides it's time for the tribe to settle down. As usual, they bunk down in pits in the desert, families huddling together to keep warm. However, the chief commissions several Fudd to light fires to keep them warm overnight.
The poking Fudd contemplates further action on the interesting bunch of Splinterbugs. However, with the approaching darkness and accompanying cold, he returns to the tribe. Before he goes, he senses a weird smell.
At the same time, the Fudd attacking the hive, begins to finish, but he's started to feel a bit drowsy. He senses a strange smell as his visions begins to blur.
The Fudd with the Lamelops has persuaded his family to let him keep it.
In the jungle, the Hyla yelps as the stick hits his leg. Enraged, he leaps from his branch to the one the Ramfopitheque is using. He manages to reach it, but only clings on with his front claws. The rest of his body dangles below. He begins to pull himself up onto the branch.
The Lutumsaurus has finished his meal of charred Borderier hatchlings and walks to the thinning part of the forest.

Name: Flakemoss Description: Contrary to its name, it is actually a fungus. It looks a bit like brown lichen, and is very brittle. Flakemoss is a common decomposer to be found in dead Spinestalk. Flakemoss is an important "crop" to Splinterbugs, as it contains the "ingredients" to the venom that soldier Splinterbugs use in their venom. When burned, Flakemoss secrete their fermented compounds as an alcohol-like liquid. This is deliberate; if the alcohol were to react to the heat and form inside the Flakemoss, it would be at a higher risk of burning. Flakemoss alcohol is flammable, and, like real alcohol, can affect the nervous system of species that drink it or inhale fumes from its combustion. In the case of the Fudd, it acts as a depressant.
Flakemoss continues to burn within the abandoned hive's inferno, secreting its alcohol along the way.

The fire in the hive begins to die down as more and more of the dry husk turns to ash and charcoal, and eventually stops entirely. The Flakemoss alcohol remains, pooled in the confines of wood. Some of the Flakemoss survives, but with no Splinterbugs to provide water, will not be able to sustain itself as much.
=EVENTS=
Night comes, and the Splinterbug colony remains on the road. The Scurrimps fall asleep one by one, with Leader's standing guard punctuated by occasional rests.
In the mountains, the snowstorm dies down. The lowlands are blanketed in snow. The surviving Skrawxes rise up, leaving footprints in the snow as they look for food. However, there are a few corpses partially buried in the snow from Skrawxes that froze to death.
The Jungulooth that brought down the Ramfopitheque corpse decides that the toxins must have decayed by now and proceeds to devour the corpse. It has a slight headache and feels a mild numbness, but that's it.
The Blunderplods, after all this time, have accomplished absolutely nothing.

As the storm does down, the Hausa tribe begins to take stock of their situation. Noticing meat is running into the 4 dayperiod, the chief orders a group to scout for any good meat, figuring the storm may have left something's in its wake. Some of the children begin their task of filling up some of the bowls with snow, which they know will melt to water.

Note: When I read the part of mitobox's post about the Skrawxes who froze to death, it reminded me of a similar part in the NES Godzilla Creepypasta (and more precisely the music in the video narration of it (toward 13:06)).
The little Ramfopitheque still didn't get that it was a very bad idea to mess with a predator, so it was still "laughing" and hoping in the branch. Thats when his mother notices him and the Hyla, she then rushed in to rescue her child and attacked the Hyla by stepping on its paws.

Name: fluffed tikki-tavi Description: a furry jawless creature the size of a cat. It has powerful muscles in its mouth that allow it to close its mouth and grab on to prey. It's omnivorous but mostly eats meat. It lives in tropical rain forests in burrows. At night, males have blue bioluminescent bacteria in their gums and eyes that glow in the dark. elementalred Yeah, that part was going through my head, too. Unforgiving cold indeed. As the night goes on, the cleared skies allow the moon(s) to shine. The mountain snow glitters and reflects the second-hand sunlight. The Skrawxes are able to use this light to find tufts of exposed grass, although they mostly scratch the ground to find food themselves. The fallen simply lay in the snow, the cold having a preserving effect. The Scurrimps are all fast asleep in their tree. Light shines through gaps in the canopy, granting some visibility to the forest floor. The Polypguins are noticeably less active. Notdrownasaurus is sleeping on the sandbar he rested on earlier. The Boundarier hatchlings further ahead stop to rest. After a while, the group behind finally catches up to them and does the same. They are seemingly safe in the tall grass, the tall rainforest trees standing guard. The adults' herd, meanwhile, is staying the night in a swampy area not too far away. Muddy puddles teem with tiny animals of all kinds, apparently from the deeper, more watery parts of the jungle.

A fluffed tikki-Tavi steps out of his burrow with glowing blue eyes. It then opens its mouth to reveal blue glowing gums. It keeps its mouth open to try to attract a m8. He sees another circular glow in the distance. It's another male. He goes over to the other shining male and they both begin to hiss and screech at eachother. Usually the one with the bigger and brighter mouth wins, but it's at a tie. The primary tikki-tavi lunges at the rival and repeatedly kicks him with his back legs while he holds on with his forelimbs. The rival escapes the grasp and scurries off defeated. The Main tikki-tavi, tired and bruised, returns to his burrow to sleep the night. Edit: meanwhile something begins to make parts of the trees glow blue. The creatures suddenly come off the tree and float in the air. Name: Astral Star Description: theyresemble feather-starfish the size of a human hand but their entire bodies glow with bioluminescence. It is not bacteria that helps them glow but rather their own cells.these cells are similar to chromatophores and allow the creature to change the color of their glow in almost any color. They have an balloon shaped bladder on top of their bodies that contains lighter than air gas that helps them stay afloat. During the day they stay asleep and colorless on trees, but at night they awaken and float up into the air. They usually use their glow to communicate with others of its kind and to attract mates. They also look for fungi, small bug like creatures, and berries to eat. They also suck the nectar out of any flowering plants that stay open at night. What it looks like: youtu.be/MoETr8BNWLQ

johnnykun That reminds me a bit of the woodsprites (flying jellyfish seed things) from Avatar. The Boundarier hatchlings notice the Astral Stars' lights coming from further into the jungle. The hatchlings that were part of the front group, due to their last experience with sudden lights (the Obstyphyte colony), decide that it's time to move on. The hatchlings that caught up follow, instincts telling them there's probably a good reason. The Scurrimp troop, sleeping in the canopy of the rainforest-mountain boundary, do not notice the bioluminescent lightshow. =PSEUDO-EVENT= It is slowly nearing dawn. The light of the sun(s) is subtle on the horizon as a slightly brighter shade of sky. A trickle of light prevents the land from turning pitch black as the moon(s) dip(s) lower in the sky.

Name: Rabat Description: They are smallish, brown-furred creatures with two gliding membranes. These stretch from forearm to their rear leg. They have a long tail used like a rudder when gliding. They also have sharp claws.
These nocturnal creatures glide from tree to tree at night feeding mainly off of Astral Stars. They regurgitate the bioluminescent organs onto the floor in glowing pellets. During the day, the sleep in holes in trees usually created by their sharp claws.
A group of Rabats are feeding off the brightly glowing Astral Stars in the forest.

The female jumped to a nearby branch while alerting the rest of the group. Hearing the scream, the other Ramfopitheques came to see what was going on. When they saw the Hyla, they started screaming at it to intimade it and started throwing everything that is within there reach at it.
