I'm really interested in having complex symbiotic relationships in the game although thinking of how many ways 2 different organisms could benefit and come into a mutually beneficial pairing boggles my mind.
My questions to all are;
Is it a planned feature of thrive/has it already been dismissed and i haven't seen that thread?
how many others are interested in this?
how would you propose the mechanics could work in each section of the game and how would the AI identify a mutually beneficial relationship?
what effect would/could this have as you progress through the stages (ie will your symbiote from aware be melded into your society in civilization) ?
Will 2 AI species be able to become symbiotic or is this solely reserved for the players species?

I believe, but don't count on this, that symbiosis will be plausible within the behaviour editor. Or even just generally, as a plant may not have a behaviour editor, though can have a symbiotic relationship with another. So yes, to my understanding, it'll be possible

I'm pretty sure it's planned, but we have no clue how it'll work.

Maybe have a symbiosis tab where you can select a species/group of species to be symbiotic with. Then you select how(drinking blood, living in or on .etc.) Something like that? It will become easier to decide when actually making the system but this is what I think at this point.

I would prefer it to be more natural. It was just a thought from my non programming mind who is running on 20 minutes sleep I couldn't agree more. May be there won't need to be a special system for it. If an animal's behaviour is possibly passed on as well the those who evolved to be a parasite or the like will just evolve naturally by surviving more and being more likely to pass on their adaptations? Again, not a programmer
