I propose that when a player goes extinct, the poem 'Ozymandias' by Percy Shelley scrolls by on screen (assuming that it's public domain, I don't know if it's owned by anyone or not).
Edit: I did four seconds of research and I think it's public domain.
Edit 2: Counter point to my own suggestion: this would actually get kind of old after a few extinctions.

That'd be pretty neat. Maybe it'd be better for Society stage onwards though.

I studied that pork in senior school. Memories... It seems fitting actually, but definitely only for society onwards. EDIT 1: Poem not pork... Belgiuming autocurrant.

A beautiful Idea, but maybee this certain poem only in Society stage? Because Ozymandias takes place during our own society stage. We could certainly find other poems for failiure in the other stages, or even for certain (momentus) scenarios. Like achievements to be unlocked, or scars on your pride alleviated with devilishly fitting quotes. Like in the event of an all-out-nuclear war we could quote "I am become death, the destroyer of Worlds" (Oppenheimer, but of course you already new that ).

or in case of a desease killing everybody an extract from E.A Poe's "For Annie": THANK Heaven! the crisis— The danger is past, And the lingering illness Is over at last— And the fever called 'Living' Is conquer'd at last.
Enjoy with just a pinch of humor in this context.

Apparently, a lot of people want Richard Attenborough to somehow narrate Thrive. This makes this thread incredibly ironic once you find the alternative ending to the notorious game, Jurassic Park: Trespasser.
(Ignore the subtitles, they're horribly desynced.)
The poem certainly stands to the failure of Jurassic Park. However, some say that the developers of the game, with the shadow of their draconian time constraints looming, used the poem and narration to reflect their game, which had certainly gone the way of the park.
(There's an incredibly high-quality Let's Play by "Research Indicates," if you're interested.)

Wait, do you mean David Attenborough? Richard would find it quite difficult.
Where do these people say it? I know it's in some sigs here in the forum but is there anywhere else?

One day many moons ago in the mists of Thrive's history, ~sciocont idly wondered whether we should rope in a celebrity science person to do the opening cutscene narration (probably sarcastically), and one of the examples he gave was David Attenborough. I jumped at the suggestion and made myself the head of the newly formed Society for Having David Attenborough Narrate the Opening Cutscene, putting it in my signature so the team would never forget to one day get him involved.

I don't know what I'm doing with names <_<' I think there was an entire thread on the old forums (you must never go there, it's a minefield of ads) where they mentioned... Whoever it was. Man, I gotta fact check more...

I know some people quite jokingly suggested David Attenborough, but Richard died a while ago.
Are the old forums really that bad? I used to go there while it was still active and it would be a shame not to go back.

I used to go there while it was still active and it would be a shame not to go back. Well, it wasn't so ad-ridden before, but I think the fact everyone moved out caused ads and popups to descend like vultures. So the old forums are now like a booby-trapped ancient temple. They hold great treasure, but peril as well.
