I know this game is heavily under development and no one's 100% sure on its future but I have a couple of questions to ask. I can understand if some can't be answered, but here goes anyway: 1. At the moment the game is basically 2D, there are 3D objects but for the most part it's 2D. In the future will it be (forgive me for mentioning it) more like Spore? 2. I remember I asked long ago on the old forums how the game was going to be released. I was told that it would be in several different separate parts respective for each stage. If this is still the plan, how is your species going to transfer over to the next stage, or will each stage eventually be integrated into one whole experience? 3. One concept I can't grasp is the technology editor. From what other people have said, you can design anything. How will everything be defined? For example, if I were to design a turbine engine of sorts, would I be able to state the amount of turbine stages? Amount of combustors? Exactly how intricate actually the editor? How will it be defined as an engine? And when the design is finished, how will it be implemented onto an aircraft? (Or have I blown things massively out of proportion? ) 4. Will there be a history tab to see each and every one of your creature's evolutionary generations, inventions and events?

I can answer 1 and 2 for you.
1) If by more like Spore you mean it will eventually transition to 3D, then yes that is the plan.
2) Every new version of the game that is released adds on a little bit more code to the previous version. All stages are planned to be integrated into one whole package.

And I have pseudo-answers for 3 & 4: 3) The technology editor has a great deal planned for it, and unfortunately the specifics are hazy. You've nailed it on the head, in that there will be some degree of editing, but what exactly that is and how much freedom the player has likely won't be fully defined for some time. Tech objects will be made available by technologies, and these will eventually be the player's building blocks. Hypothetical Example: Researching 'The Wheel' unlocks wheels, researching 'Woodworking' (I don't know if either of these are planned techs) unlocks a wooden shield, placing the shield on the wheels makes a chariot. 4) There will definitely be a system whereby old versions of your creatures are saved and viewable. In terms of inventions and events, I imagine there will likely be a system of event tracking, but probably just a tech tree in terms of invention tracking. I apologize that these aren't highly specific, but I'm glad you're interested in the later stages

Thanks for the answers guys, cleaned stuff up a little.
But what about the microbe stage? Spore had a top down view but the cells were in 3D.

That's what Thrive is currently. Top down with 3D everything else.

Even the Microbe Stage is 3D but the camera is locked in a top down position. When the organism gets big enough the camera is freed so you can see properly that it's 3D.
