Hello This Topic is not meirly involved in the Corner Cutting of some features, but in some tricks in how to make players fell like they are getting content ( which they are ) and process are loading or generating in the moment.
Some examples:
HOW TO GENERATE THE ENTIRE GALAXY IN LITTLE TIME
In Ascended Stage: ( GOD MODE ) -A cutscene of 5-7 minutes to end the game would be cool ( Narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson? ) And would use this time to properly polish and generate the galaxy.
In Space Stage:
-Subdivise the galaxy in small bunches, clusters, like how they are divided in our galaxy, that way evolution and planet generation can happen while you are trying to get there ( Travelling trough stars is a slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww process )

Use a chunk based system similar to Minecraft for loading worlds rather than a grid based system like Spore. Chunks could be loaded while going to a part of a planet rather than the laggy loading of the entire planet(grid-system) like Spore.

I'm not a primary source on this, but I know the plan is to abstract the planet's simulation considerably outside the player's own area. In other words, species elsewhere on the planet will be reduced to averages of compound intake, predation, etc. rather than simulating every single individual (which would be complete madness). If anyone ever tells you Thrive is trying to be too ambitious and there's no way to simulate the ecosystem of an entire planet, point them here where people far more knowledgeable than me actually explain it properly.
