I've been trying to flesh out the Giree a bit lately (part of getting the TU ball rolling again some time), particularly the ships their navy employs. One hurdle I've stumbled into is ship terminology. I know I could just make stuff up and say the Giree's disposition against most forms of close-range combat led to them adopting a completely different set of ship types during the Unification War (to be carried into the "present" day), but I really do want to know: what sets apart corvettes, frigates, and destroyers? The difference between the latter to is the hardest to work out.

Maybe this can help you, destroyers are bigger than frigates, but obviously less agile, frigates work better in groups since they have less weaponry and less range than a destroyer. In this image, corvettes are LCS, in the modern world they are focused in modularity.
