I made this for anyone who would like to share their ideas about the possibility of multiplayer servers or something similar in the game thrive.

To begin with, I know that the devs have stated that they don't really want multiplayer, I can come up with a scenario. So, for an example lets say that this multiplayer game is only between 2 players(it could be more based on how much the server limits). Players choose what planet and where on that planet their "Saga of Life" will start. The could choose the exact same tide pool on the exact same planet, or they could choose different planets on the opposite sides of the galaxy. Once started they play the game normally and can interact with the other player(s). They can completely ignore the other player's species or they can compete with them, create symbiosis, eat them, the possibilities are endless. Just a basic idea.

Well, no one has said that they don't want multiplayer, only that it isn't a priority. If multiplayer were ever to be done, and it's possible, it would only be done once the main game had been done to a pretty high standard.

I have had a little multiplayer idea for a while, not really something to implement in Thrive since it's more of a minigame. But it's basically a gamemode I like to call "Dish domination".
You have a few AI cell species and 2 or more players in a medium-big petri dish enviroment where you either have to make the other players go extinct or hog all the resources to win the game.

I don't have any ideas on how it could be implemented, but I would definitely love to see some form of multiplayer in Thrive.

I've had this concept for Spore a long time.
A bunch of AI and players will be put on a map (Creature stage) and they all get maybe 5 mins. to run about and get MP as fast as possible. Then they would evolve, and repeat. They can knock out players by killing all of their species. Later, it will go on to tribal stage. Here is where the final fights happen. These fights are more strategic, but also harder to win. Last species standing wins.

I know this is a oldish thread. But back in the days when I was thinking how spore 2 would be like, you know, if it were to exist, I thought that maybe a VERY small amount of players could connect to one server. And instead of being different species are the same species, This eliminates a lot of problems with the multiplayer idea(tech advances going much faster then evolution, servers?, ect)
When a player wants to evolve/outfit/create/modify, the other player(s) will get a notification that a player wants to evolve/outfit/create/modify. If the other player(s) press(es) a accept button it will go into the creators. In the creators all the players have the ability to modify the same creation, and once one player clicks the complete button the other player(s) will get a notification, if he/she/they presses the a accept button then the creator stops and the creator is modified. If a player leaves during the creator, the other player(s) get's full control(idk if you should be able to start to go into the creator when not all of the players are on the server), Though if something get's so messed up a player can press a cancel button and all the creator stops and the creation goes back to where it was before.
During the normal gameplay time the players get to choose whether they spawn close or spawn on different part of their "region"(of the species itself) They can choose to work together or fight for resources(even when it goes against the natural behaviour of the species). It would be cool to see a real player while in a quite lonely world.
As you can imagine this is less of a pub type of multiplayer and more of a private type, you'd want to play this with close friends rather then random strangers. I feel like a more private multiplayer would more simple and easier to add, and in my opinion one of the best ways to do multiplayer.
Of course if you guys do manage to find a way to make pub servers possible then feel free to add it, but if it is really that hard you can always take my idea(or think of your own which is very similar to mine).
