I've seen on the devs forum that an upgrade system for the organelles will be added. It made me truly realize how complex the game is going to be, I mean, right now it is only for the Microbe stage but think about how complex it will be in later stages... Oh! And while I'm at it, will there actually be an update system for the game itself where new versions will be downloaded automatically like Team Fortress 2?

will there actually be an update system for the game itself where new versions will be downloaded automatically like Team Fortress 2? Almost certainly - the main bulk of the game is the engine, which won't be changing much at all between successive versions. If we can't get auto-updates running (like most Steam games), the next best thing would be to have people download the full game first, then an add-on package each time a new version is released, including scripts or art assets which don't take up so much space.

Yep, evolution is pretty complex, and we haven't even gotten to agents... For those who are wondering, here is a link to the topic: forum.revolutionarygamesstudio.com/t/organelle-functions/105/15

Also, what are all of your guys' opinions on the organelle upgrade system that was proposed? Do you think it is too complicated/unrealistic? Multiple people said that it would make gameplay less fun and boring, so I just wanted to know the Thrive community's views on upgrades.

Personally I think upgrades would definitely help with some things, either efficiency or to change into different things. I like the idea but I can kinda see the other sides point. Still I think either small efficiency or potency upgrades, or upgrades leading to different mutations could work well.

Are you talking about the system proposed on the dev forum (which I may or may not creep on) which involved the polygonal system of grids? Because if so I love that idea way more than the linear upgrade system, it enhances customizability and replayability as far as I'm concerned, which is really all I'm looking for in an upgrade system. It's a little bit higher level, and would probably require getting used to, but this game as a general rule seems headed towward complexity, and I love it.
