It just seems a little unfair because you can just wait for one of the players to be really evolved then just branch off of them, giving you and unfair advantage from the start.

Maybe we should just wait for mitobox's opinion. He is the GM after all.

Of course.

This is probably the best time to do so anyway since the original species has gone extinct. And branching off of said original species would have put any new players at a disadvantage anyway.

Summoning mitobox about this issue. You allowed me to do it, so new players should, also.

Summoning mitobox about this issue. You allowed me to do it, so new players should, also. I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED! It was a joke. Sorry for being mean But seriously though shiny I think you can only branch off of Thrivum proteus. Well, as Immortal_Dragon pointed out, I already let Bigyihsuan do that sort of thing. And, as shiny pointed out, T. proteus is unavailable, mostly because it's dead. It just seems a little unfair because you can just wait for one of the players to be really evolved then just branch off of them, giving you and unfair advantage from the start. Well, that's not the only option. Taking full control of an NPC species (even though we're kind of out of them, mostly because the only one we've had so far is dead) is the other (speaking of which, I'll probably need to make some NPC species branching off of players to colonize empty habitats fairly soon). If I had everyone start out as a basic microbe every time they died (read: every five turns, if event rolls are consistently horrible), then starting over would get very annoying, very quickly.

Alright then. I just needed some context. Btw, what is that a picture of? It looks very Darksiders-esque.

Sure, do I split off a new species or create a new one? You split off from an existing species.

mitobox Could I split off from Dynamicus respire please? Also can I evolve the cyanobacteria into chloroplasts. Actually, I only said "assimilated cyanobacteria" to give the description some flavor. I felt like it'd be more interesting than just saying it evolved chloroplasts (which the assimilated cyanobacteria pretty much turned into anyway, same with the aerobic bacteria turning into mitochondria).
