The other creatures in your environment will be evolved by the computer, rather than being stock data. As a result, not only will the environment contain several distinct species, but most playthroughs will have markedly different organisms altogether.
I hope this answer your question! Let me know if I've missed something or misinterpreted an aspect of it.

I'm not really certain as whether the developers should use Shelter 2 as a template for graphics, which has highly stylized, almost cartoony, graphics, or should aim for more life-like graphics. The reason why I'm skeptical about the future stages' graphics being blocky and stylized is because if you were to look at the current Microbe stage, you'd almost immediately notice the astonishingly realistic graphics in the environments, compounds and the microbes themselves. The Microbe stage isn't even finished yet and look how life-like it is. Why can't the rest of the stages look just as top notch without compromising performance? This is especially true with the animals, plants and environments in the later stages as well. Just my few cents on the issue.
