Thanks to crodnu we're getting a drastically simplified version of auto-evo in 0.3.3. He'll be able to better weigh in on what it'll do. It's nowhere near the full CPA system but it's a step in the right direction. At least a game about evolution will have evolution in it.

It doesn't have many dates in it, but this might be helpful in finding significant events for which you can search in more detail for dates.

We've tried a couple of times to get people together and have done on occasion, but we've decided to just have casual semi-Thrive-related chats for the time being to allow us to get to know each other personally. Hopefully it'll eventually progress to recording one of them for a podcast.

I found the Greenlight page: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=796196124Some digging doesn't exactly fill me with confidence in its legitimacy. Some of the "screenshots" are simply backgrounds of other games or stock assets with painted shapes on top for animals. The gameplay footage appears to be game scenes with stock assets and simple gameplay features, but absolutely nothing in terms of underlying mechanics more than moving an organism or ship around. Not to mention their "plan" makes Thrive sound like the most thoroughly planned game in history. Apparently the developer is hoping to start a Kickstarter though, and while I seriously doubt he'd actually be able to make it (and suspect the purpose is somewhat scammy) the prospect of increased publicity for a game in a similar vein worries me. Especially if it's going to be a failure/scam/NMS cash-in. Then people may confuse that with Thrive. EDIT: And some other things. The two-man development team is half Spanish YouTube games-player, and while there's no reason gaming YouTubers can't make games, I don't know about you but I wouldn't trust the Spanish version of PewDiePie to build Spore 2. The trailer is now unlisted and the like-dislike bar removed, which suggests there was significant backlash or a wish to remove evidence for some reason. From the Steam forums discussions the YouTuber doesn't take very kindly to any sort of criticism.

I would say stealth ship, but that's StealthStyleL's domain, so I'll say Mantis4Life.

Without wishing to seem biased I don't think this is the place to discuss political conspiracies, it will only lead to bitter arguments. Let's try and keep away from political posts from now on, shall we?

Well yeah, that would definitely be copyright infringement, but that would require a modification to the game itself (either via a mod or as part of development). If you mean a developer coming along and doing that with the game we release, there's no way we'd allow that. Contributions to the code and assets are regulated by the senior devs - every addition goes through review, so something like that would not be tolerated.

After doing some brief research, I do see the point you're making even though I was originally skeptical. There are hundreds of games which allow player-created content, and some have indeed had issues with copyright infringement. EA decided to adopt a YouTube-style policy with Spore, where on a corporation's request a creation would be taken down from the servers. But it's not clear whether you mean that kind of content. Any content which a player distributes may be subject to copyright law, but it would astound me if there are laws against simply creating something related to a trademark in-game. You can make X-wings in KSP and no one will stop you, you can make a Superman costume in LittleBigPlanet and no one will stop you (unless you distribute it, which is where it gets tricky to know what would happen), you can make and share videos of the creation process of hundreds of copyrighted items in Spore and no one will stop you. And about Revolutionary Games being non-profit, that won't affect it at all. It may do in some legal cases, but not here.

People should probably turn their profiles back to normal to prevent confusion. That means you, Moopli.

Yeah. It'll show a regular overlay menu rather than the weird expand one we've had so far.

As soon as I get it finished, yes. RoboTrannic I'm not sure what you mean by "forced in". What would make it better?

The new GUI is taking shape in-game, and it already feels a million times better than the old one. See my post here.

Because in future it will serve to enable and disable other things which may be exciting from a gameplay perspective but not entirely scientifically accurate. Fire-breathing, for instance. Modders could add fictional organelles and label them non-LAWK so the LAWK toggle will enable or disable them. It's a system in place mostly for the future, so right now the fact it only refers to one thing is irrelevant.

Hi everyone, we (the devs) are trying to organise an upcoming podcast (thanks to the renewed interest in videos brought about by montiegm). While we have some ideas of what to discuss, we'd like to know what the Thrive community wants. Post your suggestions of what you'd like to see us talk about here - game mechanics, future plans, the development process, project logistics, personal involvement, etc. We'll pick the most promising suggestions and incorporate them into the podcast somehow.

No....? This is the direct quote: The next paragraph explains the system you're kind of describing but applies to chloroplasts, not mitochondria.
I've looked for a contradiction elsewhere but I can't find one. Which part are you referring to? Because if there is one it needs to be corrected.

No, you don't have to find more to make more. You can make more anytime you enter the editor, but it will cost Mutation Points. Bacteria assimilated from the environment however are effectively free (don't cost Mutation Points).
