The four of you fly into self-preservation mode. You make a mad dash for the sand, intending to make use of your camouflage. Your newest twin pops right back under the shell. Another of you charges toward the monster, intending to take it mano a mano. The last makes a swim for it, directly away from the predator.
You skirt past a patch of Mondala Buds (+2 MP), pushing yourself into the cold seafloor sand. You eye the scene above you warily.
The fleeing Odelorns swim straight above. The serpentine beast slows for a moment to register the "Leeroy" of you four. In under a moment, it snaps it down before resuming its pursuit.
You have 1/3 health.
You have 1/3 stomach (it may sound weird, but you can still eat minerals).
You have 2 MP.

Let them eat sand!
And uh, stay hidden, stay safe?
Edit: I support Atrox's name for the great beast

LEEROY JENKINS NOOOOOOOO
*sniff*
Action: Crawl over to the Mondala Buds and eat as stealthily as possible. Mutations: None
Naming: Serpentine beast = Abysserpent

Wait, no! If it notices us while eating the buds, we're toast!
I suggest lying in the sand and sifting around for minerals to eat.
Also, Abysserpent is a great name. Vote +1 for that.

You realize that, amidst the panic, you could really use some food. You semi-literally shovel sand into your mouth (+2 MP). While bland and unpleasant to your tastes, it does provide the nutrients you need to stave off starvation.
The Abysserpent (+2 MP) is still twisting through the water. The fleeing one of your kind is now among the Odelorns' numbers. The massive predator lunges and snaps down, catching it along with many Odelorns. Satisfied, it swims off to deeper waters. The Odelorns are still in chaos, meaning the rock itself is much safer to navigate to the top of than before.
Sensing the danger has left, your last remaining fellow comes out from underneath the shell. It then goes down to the Mondala Bud patch and begins to feed.
You have 3/3 health.
You have 2/3 stomach.
You have 6 MP.

I vote to mutate omnivorous teeth (assuming that this doesn't exclude minerals either).
I think it would work in our sucker-like mouth, at the moment. It could make us somewhat like lamprey eels, except with horns and spines.

We should do the teeth thing, and we should go higher up this rock, see how high this conspiracy goes.
Edit: In regards to the concerns of the rock's coloration, I amend my vote:
if (int rockColor = Sandy) { int Action = investigate higher } else { int Action = remain }
//Investigate if the rock is sandy in color, stay and eat plants if it is not

*sqeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaallll* I love having an enormous predator, it means we have something to overtake and eat in the future. When we get bigger we will look at them and say,"nom! Nom! Nom! Nom!! Nom!"
Do teeth give bonus MP? Yes, teeth are omnomtastic.
Our sand camo is useless away from sand. Going up may leave us vulnerable to any further threats. I say we sneakily move around and find further prey.

I think we should ask if the rock is the same color as the sand (since there are sandy-colored rocks lying around on Earth). If it is, we'll be safe even when we're high up on it.

Yes, we specialized in both herbivorous and carnivorous enzymes. It's pretty great, not gonna lie. It is my understanding however that this unfortunately precludes us from specializing in lithophagy (proper term? eating rocks?)

Sorry, connection failed... but yes our horns at least are made of chitin (I have no idea what our spikes are). We can change tat, but our options are keratin (weaker but faster to heal) and crystal (stronger but slower to heal). Hope this helps

I'm pretty sure we can only use crystal if we're lithovores. February Steam of Foushoo's recent posts have inspired me to try to make the species we play as

You can use crystal even without geovorous enzymes, you just don't get as much MP from eating minerals. Teeth don't net more MP (only enzymes do that), but they DO increase the effectiveness of jaws, and vice versa.
Can't really post until you give me your desired specialization of the teeth. Omnivorous isn't an option.
