So I`m not sure if this belongs here or in the Space thread, but will there be a way to replace organic material with robotic parts or even convert your entire body into a robot?

I think that over the course of the game there will probably be an ability to create better "Organs" as in either synthetic or robotic, probably at some point there will be a way to become fully robotic but im not too sure.

You should also be able to make a Robocraty (nation governt by machines and AI), if the theme is anything to go by

Ive been thinling about something for a while and i made a fan art (not posted yet) of something i could see possible... since robotics are possible what if a civilization falls and all that is left in its ruins are the machines that they built and the factories? What if the robots were made woth an AI so advanced that they are "self aware" and what if after they notice their creators have died out... what will they do? Will they perish? Will they wander around til their power runs out? Or will they thrive and decide to continue the specie's cultures and developments by making their own civilization and even upgrading themselves as if they were "evolving" by upgrades? Just imagine coming into a planet where a civilization died out and all that is left are robots... like u explore the ruins and theres just robots roaming around and sometimes theyr AI is advanced and they may be able to communicate with eachother and with you or they might try to rebuild the cities and who knows maybe even get to space and become a robptic space empire or they could be hostile and attack anyone near their planet or territory (think dwemer robots) or they could be curious and become like a "scientist" like species who want to study organic species... such as you... of course we wont be able to play as machines (but maybe as cyborgs) but you could encounter planets inhabited by machines... maybe they even created robotic animals that act like real ones maybe based on creatures that used to live there... who knows... im actually gonna post that fan art later in the fan art part of the forums and put a link here to see what it might look like... what do you think?
(This was inspired by the dwemer from elder scrolls since they dissapeared and the ruins are filled with their machines and automatons... just roaming around and defending the empty cities... which are all that is left of the dwemer...)
But another question is... what if this happens to your species? What if ur planet dies out and your species escapes tp another world but leaving behind the machines... and when u come back to what once was you homeworld u find out the machiens have developed a civilization of themselves... and recognize your species thus they celebrate your return as ypu now have powerful robotic allies... or they cpuld have foegotten about you and just threat you as a stranger or be hostile and atyack you... or theu could have never rebuilt civilization and just... roam around the world... wandering... just keeping it moving as the last moving things on the planet... the replacers of the creatures and life on the planet...
What do you think about this?

A planet devoid of life but the machienes a once-great civilization left behind? A planet where the wind haunts empty cities were the only things moving are robots, following their directives without fault even after thousands of years without new instructions? Where they work on ending their now meaningless tasks, their endless labour pointless?
Well that apeals to that part of my heart that has a secret love for tragedies and nihilism

I just want robots to be cool looking and badass like the creautures when they are generated, I mean obviously some limit but ya get my drift.

I'm not sure how integration between the Creature and Tech editors would work out. Or would we even use the Tech Editor for things like this? Cybernetics might fall under the Creature Editor, and it looks like advanced robots might work better with a modified version of it. This is a very speculative topic.

And if this robotic/biotecnological modifications could be different for different jobs, creating castes like the biological ones? For example:soldier with thicker skin/bullettproof Shell, stronger and faster labourers, smarter researchers etch.

idk... maybe if your smart enough with function parts or in a more understandable but minecrafty way... a "redstone expert" type player when making techs... you could make robots... the first one would probably be the basic walker... then they would go to grabbers or fliers up to the point where we could end up with a (probably fragile) robot or automaton!! idk plz make the tech editor understandable for my primitive mind...

Well, Function Parts are the basic components of the Tech Editor. So, for example, a jet pack. This would be unlocked by performing research although the exact process is currently undecided. That way you could upgrade your robots and have a progression through time of different types.

Well, Function Parts are the basic components of the Tech Editor. So, for example, a jet pack. This would be unlocked by performing research although the exact process is currently undecided. That way you could upgrade your robots and have a progression through time of different types. yeah... i thik another example would be like when ur making rockets and u researched for example: fire, fuel, thrust mechanics, thrusts physics, etc... youd start making separate techs being the parts of the rocket and those would be build and stored one wuld be the thrusters another the base etc... so those are like the "resources" needed for the rocket... then u make the rocket using those parts stacking them or sticking them together etc... (think kerbal space program) up to the point where u got a rocket!! another example is making an axe... now this one function parts are easier to understand... *clears throat* so for a primitive axe u first need a stick and a sharp rock... those resources are found naturally and u just need to gather them and then make the "blueprint" in the tech editor... then set the stone as the chopping trees function part and wood as handle and a rope (dont know how u make those) to tie them together... then after that is complete when u order the people to make it they will gather the resources and craft the axe... now something like a lumberjack axe from this time would be harder... it would be the same process but its made o metal and a refined sharpened one... how to make it... well BEFORE making the axe u have to make its "resources" make a tech called axe blade which is a metal bar carved in the shape of an axe blade... then save it and order ur ppl to ake one and store it... now its stored with the other resources... now to make the axe u need to go to the editor again at the resources and tech tab ull find the axe blade u invented and place it on top of a stick and tie them together mark which parts do what and voila!! that is how i picture the tech editor... and soon it could help at making robots!! so you get the point... its complicated... also something that would be really fun to think of is since trees also evolve then not all sticks would be straight!! so ud have an axe wit a bent handle or a fat one or who knows it could be made out of fleshy wood from a tree that grows meat fruit (yes it is possible... although it wont really count as flesh...)

I think what could happen is have gear FPs to work like joints and bones, or use pistons to make a musculature. Later on you can use magentism on robot bones for joints. The roboexoskeleton would just be metal primitives around these gears, working as armor. Of course, it would need nervous response transmitters, and a removed limb to work on an org. Tada! Robot arm dilemma solved.

Robot arm dilemma solved. dont forget u have to invent those parts from scratch too... like the piston which u have to make first in the tech editor then save it and then u can use it to build the robot... another thing is the research needed to make something like a piston... so its gonna take players quite a while to invent robots... which i kinda like lol
