It is stated that ascension stage is only unlockable at the end of the game.
But I really want to try that stage without really going through the whole thing cause I am impatient..
So will it be initially available or is there an available mode similar to the ascension stage? Or will there be none of the above?

I'm sure there will be some way to access it without having to play through the game, as it will probably take a very long time to complete.

In spore , you can choose all stages you've finished at least once . Also there is a cheat that unlocks all stages . Maybe Thrive could have this option as well ?

So, you wouldn't be able to just start out on a certain stage unless you've already completed, or in terms of ascension, start it. With other stages though, it would be required that you finish a particular stage once before starting another game at the point of said stage, because it would be required(?) or at least expected to have already done it once.

Well, since Ascension is essentially Sandbox Mode, and I'd imagine that Sandbox Mode is likely to be accessible from the Main Menu directly at some point, you could probably just choose the Sandbox Mode once it becomes available.

Having just watched some angry videos on no mans sky if you have sandbox mode readily available before ascension i'd suggest we think of something to give players a sense of accomplishment upon completing the final goal of the game other than here's this thing you could click into from the main menu

I strongly suggest that if you can't handle strong language, than avoid the video. Otherwise, enjoy because it is pretty funny.

Probably create new worlds. I think it might be similar to that forum game "Gods of the Planet", where you can even nudge along the evolution of other species and observe them, and even control individuals probably.

All I'd do is just introduce massive apex predators to wipe clean a planet's entire ecosystems clean and watch it burn in agony.
