So this came up in the Society Sub-Topic ( thrivegame.freeforums.net/thread/46/tribe-ideas?page=2&scrollTo=14218 ), and piqued my interest. When it comes to Space, a sufficiently advanced race will need more energy and resources to the point that the only way to accommodate these needs will be to cannibalize everything in the universe to fuel whatever robotic, post-robotic, or transcendent organic civilization comes out on top. So as this came to light, I really began to like the idea of this being applied to the end game. I think it'd be really awesome if eventually your civilization just ended up being this artificial intelligence collective that devoured everything to produce a swarm of thinking nano robots or something, and then you enter ascension solely because the galaxy will be gone and you'll run out of energy. What are peoples' thoughts?

energy is not created nor destroyed, but I think I'll give up long before I reach ascension. I'll be having to much fun in sandbox spamming mudskippers in planet creator. So this is as much of a contribution I'll make to this thread. Nice post tho.

Useful Energy*
Thanks for catching that! Yeah, I meant useful energy. In the case of cosmic Gray Goo, Heat Death would be coming.

You could use the God Tools from the Ascension Stage to teleport to new universes in order to acquire more energy. This "Grey Goo" concept is very reminiscent of Kadashev Scale: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kardashev_scale

Why wouldn't our species not learn what the force is yet? Or perfect it for that matter... maybe that will keep energy going. Yeah, use jedis as slaves to run power plants for the rest of the universe.

Yeah, use jedis as slaves to run power plants for the rest of the universe. Is this a suggestion for the game, or philosophical musing ? I guess we could sneak jedi in under the non-LAWK option...

I like this.
I guess a similar idea is to have star destroying weapons (for example there is an episode of stargate where they throw an open stargate into a star and it sucks out some of the mass and that causes a nova) and so if you get in a devastating late game war the galaxy can become ripped apart such that there aren't many stars left.
