Why are Multicellular and Aware considered different enough to be separate stages?

Aware just has higher cognitive abilities, there isn't too big of a transition.

To my understanding the Multicellar Stage deals with the development of Precambrian Life (jellyfish, sea sponges, worms) and rather than controlling one creature you are micromanaging the entire organism's anatomy. Its essentially the microbe stage but with RTS mechanics.
The Aware Stage is much more similar to Spore's creature stage, where you control a single organism and not its cells and survive and adapt to your surroundings.

This is going to be like the stage that Spore scrapped to put it. To separate the difference between an organism life such as a trilobite, to the life of an elephant. Just gives you more complexity.
