(Please keep in mind that this is my first time hosting a forum game so if it sucks then sorry) You can be any typical fantasy race as long as it`s reasonable or has an explanation (I.E Human = reasonable, Drow/Dark Elf = Needs explanation)
Prologue:The humble seaside town of Skyfall has always been a quiet, peaceful place. The rolling waves of the sea and vast plains might make it seem like a paradise, but nowhere is without it's share of monsters. However, the town has learned to deal with the occasional attack from Goblins or Ghouls. But recently a much greater threat has come to the town. Reports of strange killings have started to spring up like wildfire, sometimes half-eaten corpses are found and other times only bloodstains. The people are frightened, and mayor Darryl Cassius has offered a reward of so much as 500 gp to the person who can stop these brutal killings. Owing in part to a bloody-covered claw found in the corpse of a mangled knight, the citizens have started to call the monster "Bloodclaw". Rumor has it Bloodclaw has taken up residence in a cave in the Fabled Forest.
You have always been a simple villager, but you have also always aspired becoming an hero! Now is your chance, will you forge your destiny and become a legend? Or will you meet the fate so many other aspirants have...
The village blacksmith, tanner and an old retired wizard have all offered to supply you with gear, but which will you choose?
Starting Classes:
Warrior: The Warrior wields a sword and shield, capable of felling opponents while shrugging aside weaker blows with their plate armor. Starting Equipment: Starting Traits: Iron Armor Warrior Training (+1 to melee-combat and blocking rolls) Iron Sword Iron Shield
Rogue: The Rogue wields a bow and daggers, but their true strength comes in their ability to stealthily take out their opponents. Starting Equipment: Starting Traits: Bow Rogue Training (+1 to ranged-combat and stealth rolls) Iron Dagger (x2) Leather Armor
Mage: The Mage, while not threatening physically, wields the powerful and unstable force of magic to destroy their foes in a variety of ways. Starting Equipment: Starting Traits: Basic Spellbook Mage Training (+1 to all magic rolls) Mage Robes
(This first "turn" will be creating your character, after which you will be able to do actions.)

Oh cool, another classic role play game. We just come up with a name description and character class right?
If so Name: Skila Race: Human (im boring) Class: Warrior (will we get to expand on class later? Description:A young man who is nearing the age of 20. Due to his youth he is often overlooked in most such cases, but his quick tounge and mind have gotten him into worse. His family, while not wealthy, believed that basic education and defense was needed to grow in life, and therefore he can read and write, though he occasionally makes mistakes, as well as knows basic swordplay, at least enough to not stab himself in the face. He has curly brown hair and dark brown eyes, with tanned skin from early farmwork

As for Class expansion, as you and anyone who joins progress, you will encounter NPCs who have certain specialized versions of the starting classes. For example, as a Warrior, if you encounter an NPC who is a Paladin, you can ask them to teach you their ways. This will convert you into a Paladin in the next turn, which would allow you to access certain equipment, perform certain actions easier, or even allow you to use unique class-specific spells (I.E a Paladin would have a book of Holy Magic that a Mage couldn`t use).

Name: Cramsworth Butterbook Race: Half Elf. His mother was a human woman who lived in the village and his father was a mysterious Elf mage just passing through. Class: Mage Description: Always feeling like an outcast Cramsworth became obsessed with magic at a young age, feeling it would be his ticket out of this dump. He's small and weak, like really weak, even a heavy coat is too much for him. He speaks too fast and misses out words in his haste.
"Death! Blood! Adventure! Let's go guys, go go go, yes good go."
OOC: What about spells, do you want to give me some or should I make some up?
If I get to choose for myself I'd like to be a utility mage (so useful spells and not damaging ones) and have the spells
1. Blinding Flash! Using a small crystal create a flash of light to blind enemies. Also helpful for creating light in dungeons and other dark places.
2. Ray of Enfeeblement! Cramsworth points his finger and a white and blue ray touches his enemy. They feel so tired, so over encumbered. Their armour is so heavy all of a sudden, they are enfeebled!

just a little question do we have to keep to ordinary fantasy races (humans, orcs, elves, dark elves, dwarves etc) or can we also play with less 'traditional' ones ? (Nagas, giants, faery, gnomes, goblins etc) if so...
Name : Teroc Cratzchin Race : Gnome Class : mage Description : Gnomes have always been obsessed with technology and knowledge. That's why little Teroc (he's only about 20) decided to travel in order to find more knowledge he could bring home ! Given that his father was an inspiring engineer he figured he could use the power of magic to make even more impressing inventions then his father did ! Racial trivia : Gnomes usualy live about 150 years though there are cases where a gnome became 200.Given that they don't like the sun too much most Gnomes live underground. Gnomes have an extremely good reletionship with Dwarves given that they both live underground and trade a lot (Gnomes need minerals for their inventions, and Dwarves can use their inventions). They also have a more then decent reletionship with Humans for largely the same reasons (again Gnomes need stuff like leather and wood and Humans can use their inventions). They do not have good reletionships with Elves given that 1 Elves don't want to tell them their secrets and 2 Gnomes often destroy nature for their endless searh of knowledge. They usually don't fight themsleves and instead rely on mercenaries to do most of their fighting.
"What secrets do you think we're going to encounter ?"
OOC : if you don't like this version of gnomes (or if you want to keep to more traditional races) just tell me and i'll cahnge my character

Name: Maro Blonboek Race: Human Class: Rogue Description: The untidy black hair and sinister face of Maro is seldom seen; it is often covered with the hood of his long, black, cloak. He never knew his parents and had a difficult childhood, having to roam around for scraps to survive. He became a theif and a skilled one, learning to sneak through the shadows. His youth blinded him to other, more legal, paths but when he is caught, his quick wit and charisma more often than not, sees him through. Now, he plies his trade across the land, in search of a better livelihood.

Name: Maledictus Unum Race: Half Orc (His human mother escaped after being captured by Orcs. He was born and lived in the village) Class: Warrior Description: Maledictus's face is rarely seen as he does not take off his helm in public. Inwardly he is deeply ashamed of his race as even his mother had named him cursed one (in Latin) and had kicked him out of home as his Orc instincts were too much for her when he was young. Despite his shyness his physical attributes never let his roots go unnoticed or un-commented on. Should one remove the mask they would find the stern ugly facial features of an orc mixed with mattered hair and a long braided beard. Maledictus took work as a mercenary because it was the only honest work where he could make a wage and in the hopes that someday he could change the opinions of the town towards him. He carry's many physical scars from his work but has so far survived his violent occupation and is now in his 30's.

Do all mages get to choose their own spells ? It`s not so much as choosing spells as much as the ones tjwhale listed are in the spellbook. So he just kinda got lucky when he said that. So for example, if you said, look for a utility spell, you would probably find a basic Blniding spell or Enfeeblement spell. If you wanted to look for a offensive spell, you would probably find Magic Missile.

First Post will be on Wednesday to give anyone else who wants to join enough time and me a bit of time to figure things out (Although I do have to start school on Wednesday so if I don`t post for a while then that`s why).
Edit: I have made one edit to the Class Change system, instead of it taking a turn, your class will change at the beginning of the next chapter (it will be obvious when it is the next chapter). This is because I think it would take more than a turn (which most of the time is just a few seconds in-game) to learn how to be a Paladin, Cryomancer, Assasin, etc. I`m sorry if it seems dumb, but its what makes sense to me.

Name: Budd Race: Troll Class: Mage Appearance: He's a hunch-backed, lanky, and blue troll with tusks almost 4 inches/10 cm long. His hair is in a red mohawk, and he's tall like many other trolls of his tribe (a bit more than 7 feet/a bit more than 2 meters). His ears are long, reminiscent of most elves. Backstory: He hails from a tribe of trolls not far from Skyfall that are short compared to the average troll. They abandoned him at a early age due to him lacking any sort of regenerative abilities, and he was raised by a family of elves. After living peacefully for awhile, he decided to move out and live in Skyfall Extra Information: Trolls live as long as humans, and most trolls are still barbaric. Their regenerative abilities normally allow them to regrow things such as fingers, hands, etc. Only a few are able to completely regrow legs, arms, and vital organs.
OOC: If you don't accept these versions of trolls/anything, tell me so that I can change it.

Chapter 1: The Lair of Bloodclaw
"Our party of 9 brave souls have journeyed far through the Fabled Forest of Skyfall. At long last their searching has borne fruit, as they have found a large opening in the I`skari Mountain, one of the few things to breach the tall trees of the forest. Several blood-splatters and bones can be seen around the entrance, as well as a corpse lying near one of the rocks. It seems destiny has finally called. How will our heroes respond?"
(Let me know what you think of the narrative style)
