It's come to my attention that a few of you (not naming names) have been trying your hand at making music lately. In response, I've gone forward with creating something I've had as an idea for a while now: a guide to all aspects of music composition and production within the context of Thrive. It'll consist of several blog posts published at unreliably indeterminate times in the future. The first part can be found here, and it covers the mindset of starting out as a composer, the equipment you'll need, good practices for practice, and (optional) homework for later installments. Here's everything I'm so far planning to cover in later posts: - Music theory - Using production software - Audio effects - Articulation, velocity and phrasing - Development of ideas - Theme - Finding inspiration - Dealing with criticism - Using the internet Let me know if there's anything else you want to see covered. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy it. Here's the announcement video, which also covers a few other things: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EXEf61L_zYTotally not more unwarranted self-promotion. Nope, not at all.
