Early one morning, a Malburo begins to make it's way down the rocky cliff faces it calls to home to the grassy lowlands to feed. Having done this several times in it's lifetime, in a matter of minutes the Malburo has made it's way down to the grasslands, feeding on the chemical-filled ferns that gives the Malburo its signature chemical cloud. While still cautious, the Malburo is aware that anything could strike at any moment and so keeps it's guard up while it feeds.
(Currently can`t tag anyone, this Malburo is kinda alone right now :/)

(1/10 Early Night/Twilight) TheGraveKnight Hold on there, night's got to happen first. The Doublend near the Arnacathrix shows its two-mindedness: the posterior head leans away from the approaching creature, as if wanting to observe from a safe distance. However, the frontal head remains occupied with eating. A tad annoyed, the posterior head taps on its blind counterpart to get it to move, but is brushed away in turn. Name: Bristleshell Description: A creature similar to a Glyptodont, but with flat, knobbed back armor more like an Ankylosaur. It has a rugged, bristled hide ranging from pale brown to gray and incisors well-equipped for tough vegetation. The eyes are orange, and rather small, positioned to the sides of the head. Its tail lacks a defensive club, but is still very thick. They are mostly solitary, occasionally banding together for safety, and inhabit dry grassland (steppe) areas. The shell helps guard their cumbersome, nutrient and water-storing innards. As twilight falls, a rectangular, metallic form descends from the sky. A brillaint blue light underneath wanes as it reaches the surface. Upon touchdown, a hatch opens to reveal about thirty Bristleshells. An irritating sound ushers the newly-introduced beasts out of the vessel, which, with a roar and more blue light, takes off once more. The creatures take a moment to adjust, then walk off to find bushes.

The Arnacathrix takes a step back on seeing the interaction between the two heads of the Dublend. She stays where she is, then reaches forward with a pronged limb, trying to gently poke the strange beast to see how it reacts. Her comrade, however, stays back, bioluminescence lighting up the roof of her mouth and the edges of her chest plates ever so slightly in wariness.

Now desperate, the Gravorian aims for the Hamalus' neck. This may kill the Hamalus, or it could kill the Gravorian. But the fear of death evaporated in the Gravorian's mind, there was only the hope of finally having a meal... (I should`ve clarified this in the description of them, but Gravorians have a fairly high metabolism). The Hamalus cries in pain as the Gravorian bites it's neck. However, the neck is thick and the creature is not immediately killed. But he is weakening. At the same time, he is kicking his legs out at the predator, hoping to bat it away. The leeches of the trees, the Purpleweeds, have mostly found the xylem and phloem of their hosts and begin to divert their nutrients. One or two fail to do so, and die. TheGraveKnight

(Midday) Despite being kicked in the side and having 2 ribs shattered, the Gravorian refuses to let go of the Hamalus' neck. This was it's last chance at a meal, it was now do or die, life...or death. Meanwhile, (Early Twilight/Late Evening) The Malburo continued to graze during the morning and headed back to the cliff faces for the midday, to avoid predators. With the coming of evening, the Malburo comes back down to feed again. Though it would not be as peaceful as before with the approach of a Bristleshell. Uncertain of just what this strange beast is, the Malburo watches from a distance, this could be a whole new threat to it. StealthStyleL mitobox

The shock of the attack, the loss of blood and being half-drowned take their toll on the Hamalus, and it gets drowsy. It loses energy and stops kicking, although not before a last few powerful, desperate kicks. He begins to go under. TheGraveKnight

The Gravorian gets kicked in the same spot, breaking another rib and rupturing it's lungs, but still drags the beast down to finish it off. Several minutes later, the Gravorian finally manages to drown the thrashing Hamalus. The Gravorian drags it's prize ashore and begins to feast. It may have claimed a meal, but with shattered ribs and a damaged eye, life for this male is now on the brink. So wounded and exhausted is he that he has no energy left to fend off another male Gravorian who has come for his territory. After several years of dominating this cove, he is driven out and with his damaged lungs, his wounds may yet prove fatal...the next morning, the male Gravorian lies dead, his ruptured lungs unable to take in air. It seems the Hamalus was too much for it...

Not sure if anyone is still doing things on this thread but... New Species: Xi`Thoian (Pronounced shE-thoi-in) Description: Xi`Thoians are a recently arrived species that are noted for their intelligence. While not yet having formed tribes, they can create basic tools such as axes and spears and possess notable ingenuity. They are describe as looking like bipedal bugs, possessing a single eye that is surrounded by a hard carapace which also covers their entire body. The color of this carapace depends on the area, Northern Xi`Thoians possess dark blue carapaces and dark green eyes and plates while Southern Xi`Thoians are a lighter blue with pink eyes and plates.
