Question: If we're discussing injuries, then what about plants? What would they have for injuries? I mean a plant can regrow from a single stump if it has a leaf... So what will we do? Possibly regrowth could be a feature. So if you have evolved the right why and have the right cell to regrow after loss of limbs that's advantageous in that situation. I imagine that feature could be used for animals too as star fish and lizards do the same thing

Sorry for the necroposting; but I don't think this discussion was ever finished.
From what I've gathered specific damage leading to specific wounds is a yes; in that certain types of damage to certain areas cause certain wounds (E.g. a swipe to the abdomen (or equvalint) leads to disembowlment which causes its own whole plethora of problems and a chop to the neck causes decapitation (if all the calculations say it should) while a stab causes a stab wound.) And these are effectively status effects (though some are pretty much instantly lethal) and if you survive them you'll gain a corresponding scar. But the problem was damage to plants and how to implement a censored version for those who don't want to deal with gore, and the difficulty maintaining realism in the optional censored mode.

It took the dev team 6 years to build a functional microbe stage. Are you really here to necropost about damage models for plants?
But yes, a scar texture would be pretty neat.

It wasn't because of the plants, honestly I just threw that up because it was part of the summary I was making. Mostly I just find this subject interesting and think it would be all round entertaining and useful (eventually) to continue it. Besides, Necroposting is not actually against the rules. It's a discussion of things that won't matter for years, but at least it's interesting.

a censored version for those who don't want to deal with gore This may sound pretty insensitive, but I don't think they should add a censored version. This game has completely focused on realism, and censoring removes A LOT of realism. (Yes I know I could just not enable it, but it'll still take time to implement, which could've been spend on other things)

it'll still take time to implement, which could've been spend on other things Adding gore of any kind will take time implement, which could've been spent on other things. I really don't understand the need for gore at all costs some of you have. Gore for gore's sake will do nothing for the game.

But when I'm talking about "gore", I don't mean things like heads exploding or something, I just mean realistic blood (for example, if you claw somethings chest open, something will actually flow out, instead of there just appearing some kind of red lines)

"Gore" is what happens when something receives a wound of any size; things that are inside you fall out. If the wound is big enough, organs will follow the blood in its flow. That's how the real world works, and this is a game heavily focused on realism.
