Greetings.
I followed this project two or three years back, and had a somewhat active account over on the old forum. I'll help in any way I can, but have zero skills in game design and am pretty much limited to giving feedback about the game. I can also try to do some outreach, and make the community a bit more active.
I think that's it. Yay for first post!

I hope you like the new forums. Sorry for taking like a week come on here again. I've been a bit preoccupied lately. I actually find the new forums ugly, user-hostile and clunky, whereas the old was only clunky. I love what they've done with the game, though!

Could you explain why?

Well, after using vBulletin everything looks bad... but there are too many separate boards, which is a huge no-no for small forums trying to build a community, the art doesn't do anything to draw the eye, it's hard to find certain functions and things seem too large in general. Still, it's not so bad as your development forums. Where would I go to post a video of me playing Thrive, btw?

Mouthwash that would fall under the board "The Game" either just in the unspecialized thread area, or under "Microbe Stage".

I might agree that this forum is a bit clunky, but you kind of undermined your credibility when you said Discourse is bad. As far as forums go, Discourse is a god But then again, different people have different preferences.

I think this board would work : thrivegame.freeforums.net/board/6/microbe. Not so bad as the development forums? With all due respect, I absolutely disagree with you on that. Every time I use it I'm reminded of how amazing it is. Discourse is probably my favourite forum host to use (But as TheCreator said, to each our own).

Sorry, got caught up IRL and procrastinated until 0.3.2 came out. Now I'm really back.

Make the 'forum groups' (General, Thrive, Not Thrive, and Creativity Corner) into individual forums. Make the current forums into subforums (some not even that). Remove all subforums. Seriously, how can you guys operate like this? If there were twenty people a day on here it would still be too large. I can't think of a better way for driving away casual followers. Weeeellllllll... this is my subjective opinion and all... but a dirty shiv would be less of an insult to the eye. EDIT: Fun fact: yours is third on the list if you Google "development forums." Guess not too many people use them.

EDIT: Fun fact: yours is third on the list if you Google "development forums." Guess not too many people use them. Wait, not "thrive game development forums", not even "thrive development forums", just "development forums"? I don't understand how you think that's a bad thing, to me that seems pretty impressive for a relatively small project. And if you look at the recent user list at the bottom of the main page, we've had over 35 people online in the last day, plenty more than 20. But I see your point. It wold be good to get the opinions of those who actually use the forums and have to deal with it though.

I don't understand how you think that's a bad thing, to me that seems pretty impressive for a relatively small project. I don't think it's a bad thing. Just something I wanted to mention. Also, I was mistaken- it's first. ("Development forum" won't work; you must use the word "forums" in the plural.) Wow, really? I assume most of them aren't overly active... a quick glance at the last post of each forum shows half of them more than a day old, and the rest usually between two and twenty hours. I would say this is a reasonable size if an average thread gets new posts within minutes. Otherwise it's just information overload.

That's Russian Google and the results are in Russian. Since Google is different across domains I can understand not getting the same result in another country, but I can't understand why you have it set to Russian? EDIT: Oh, I get it. It doesn't send me to your results, it does a whole new search with the default language being Russian. American Google shows it as first.

Wait a minute, did that 'Baltic Development Forum' website just overtake it? I swear just a few minutes ago it was on top... I've no idea how Google calculates this, sorry.

You aren't. In Soviet Russia, Google uses YOU.
(I deserve to be shot for that. Yes.)
