So there was an actual insect in the machine? Yes. A moth. It had the same effect of an actual computer bug as it is described now.

Today I learned that turning addblock off for this website allows that scammer message "Your computer has a wirus, call us to fix now" to come up. Super annoying. Going to go run my FREE virus detection to make sure now.

Technically I learned this two days ago, but I think it can still be placed here...
The nervous system first evolved as an external tissue. This new knowledge made me happy, because I was always confused about why the tissue was not derived from the mesoderm or endoderm during development. Beyond that, it's just neat.
And a good example of weird stuff happening in the Cambrian. 'Twas a silly place, with opabinia and anomalocaris.

It is a joke about the sterotype of the Microsoft scammers. Most pronounce "virus" as "wirus"

TIL that some guy in Scotland failed his driving test in literally 5 seconds. He drove on the wrong side of the road exiting the test centre.

TODAY I LEARNED A STUDENT CREATED AN ARTIFICIAL LEAF THAT DOES EVERYTHING A REGULAR LEAF DOES, BY SUSPENDING CHLOROPLASTS IN SILK PROTEIN.
So essentially, what this young man has created is a material that we can work with, that is able to photosynthesize. Imagine lining the walls of a space ship with this!!
