TIL that if there was a silicon based creature instead of carbon, and if it had to breathe oxygen, instead of having to exhale Co2 (Carbon Dioxide) it would have to constantly excrete Sio2 (Quartz). Ouch.

Ouch. Technically it would be adapted to that so it wouldn't necessarily feel the pain we would. I see where you're coming from though. Yikes.

Also silicon, while being a relatively friendly substance, doesn't have the capabilities of carbon.

TIL I am an idiot for locking myself out of my room. GG Well played. We, as a community, hope that this doesn't happen to you again. I think.

Update: I had to sleep on the sofa, and my landlord told me I could get keys in the morning from the real estate place. Turns out they don't have any keys. I have to wait until 8pm for the landlord to come round and its not quite 10. I have to sort out my uni schedule, I cant even cook (I have no stuuf). All O have is my phone which is on critical and the tv wont work.

I never said that, I said they would excrete them.

Yeah that's what I mean and that's not necessarily the case :0

So I did a small, not thoroughly researched calculation.
If we where to hook up every human in somekind of computing network (For simplicity's sake I kept it at 7.500.000.000), we would have around 18750000000 petabytes of memory. Or 75000000000000000 gigabytes. I originally wanted to find out what kind of processing power this human computer would have, but I couldn't find an answer I found satisfactory. So I did this instead. This was just for fun and I would advise taking this with a pinch of salt.

Yeah that's what I mean and that's not necessarily the case :0 Why not? Well because for silicon life to be effective it'd need to be at much higher temperatures! They wouldnt excrete rocks (or maybe they would I'm not sure what temperature rocks melt at), they'd probably excrete magma or like.. some kinda vapor? Depends really on a lot of things

Quartz melts at 1670 degrees celsius, so nope, still a rock.

Whatever the case may be, it sounds extremly painfull. Although, if an entire species evolved like that, I doubt they feel it.

It would probably be excreting rounded quartz. And if not, it would need some serious internal lining.

It would probably be like pooping ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That makes more sense than what I had in mind. For some reason I thought they would squeeze it out of their pores. Through a dedicated hole would hurt a little less than having quartz be pushed through your skin.
What am I on about?

They could possibly push it out in the form of sand, or powdered quartz (Some internal crushing organ), and/or have a mucus type substance to push it out with, similar to how our nose gets rid of foreign objects.
