So I found this adorable little game called Seaquence. Basically, you use little creatures to make music, and you can manipulate what sound they make based on what squares you "activate" when you click on the little cells/organisms. I decided to try something, and thought I'd share it with you guys.
You can make little "shapes" using the squares, and as I was listening to one of my obvious masterpieces I realized that, depending on how much sound/what kind of sound the creature makes, it moves differently and with a different quickness. Suddenly something occured to me: What if I made a little species based on this? So here's my thought:
"Fitness" Base
How far an organism can get from the center in 30 seconds
Species
Red, blue, pink, yellow, green
Basics
The boxes act as this little organism's "genes," and depending on which squares you activate, it takes on a different shape. Placing boxes at random will give them many, one-joint 'antennae.' However, if you put a box directly above/below another one, it makes the antennae one joint longer. You can have many antennae - you could even fill all the boxes if you had the patience/time.
I used a certain pattern for each color ('heart monitor' style, square, straight line, pairs of 2/4) first. Then, I clicked so I could watch all of them, and counted to 30 with my eyes closed. Then I started deciding who was weak and who was strong.
First you locate the one closest to the center, and you remove it (bottom left corner). Then you pinpoint the one who is farthest away from the center and you add a new one (top left corner), make it the same color, and copy the same "genes" as the one you deemed 'fit.' Put a small change in the 'gene' so there's variation between the two individuals.
Keep doing this until you have your own little 'species.' If you want to keep going, then continue killing off the 'weak' ones even if they're the same color as the 'fit' ones. Add a new one with a totally different gene-set and see if that one can add its genes into the mix (maybe 'breed' the newcomer with the next best fit?).
Bonus!
Set a 'goal' for each color. This is what I did:
Green = Go as far away from the center as possible
Red = Stay as close to the center as possible
Blue = Move as far away from your original point as possible
Pink = Copy Green as best you can
Yellow = Be as big as possible while still keeping to Green's goal
I ended up with some pretty cool little guys. I might load up some screenshots of my new species sometime.
Let me know what kind of result you get ovo This is fun for me, idk why...
