as the old thread being on life support and the roleplay itself going out of hand we can all agree that it needs a reboot so i decided to do that plus instead of just being a role play this will be a legitimete game with the goal of surviving
current game masters/me/mitobox (because he made the orignal)
the rules still remain from the previous thread 1. You can have any number of species.
2. Organisms can be any level of complexity, and don't have to be animals. Again, realism is preferred.
3. Organisms must have a name and description. Pictures are entirely optional.
4. Sapient beings must start at the Awakening Stage.
5. You can have your organism evolve, although no passage of time is imposed on others' creatures.
7. No godmodding. Godmodding is loosely defined as not allowing anything that transpires to hinder you. If you're prey being chased by a predator, you don't simply say that you escaped. On the other hand, the other player can't simply say he/she catches you.
8. Any disputes between players, if no agreement is reached, will be handled by game masters or moderators. If it's between moderators, head to the bunkers and prepare for the worst.
9. No life from other planets is allowed, unless your sapient species discovers it themselves. Such things otherwise occur in events only.
X. Rules may be modified at any time as needed.
but i have added some new mechanics 10.you dont start on land but instead its a natrul progression through time from you fishy origens to space traveling empires 11.No OP creatures 12:you can only evolve if you posted 10 posts 13.when evolving you can only modiffy 25 things 14.you can be a individual if you like 15.combat between players work's like this...1 will do a action (roaring, stomping, lighting up) to ask for a fight and if the player responds to the action (roaring back etc) they will fight, there are no insta kills or straight up damage only trys etc blah tried to bite blah blah on the back and then the other player will respond with ether it hit or it missed how ever you cant keep dodging to prevent stupidly long battles 16.you dont have to wait for players to post 17.no sentient creatures untill were quite far in the game 18.most of all have fun

The planets current state on land is hostile to most life and is not yet fit for a thriving ecosytem only contating Cactoid:small plants the size of your thumb with spiky spore carriers Life in the sea however is bursting with life

Robotranicrex, if you're taking suggestions I personally prefer having the freedom to create land animals as well. The evolution thing doesn't sound like it has the freedom of the old thread, which was the attraction of it.
I also think it would be cool if we say that this is the same universe but after a mass extinction event that only a few species survived. So,if we wont to bring them back, it's as if they survived the event, but if they no longer appear it's because of the event.

Should we hash this out a bit before jumping right in? I mean, I like the idea of starting from a blank slate, but the whole appeal of the ecosystems rp was that we got to create these cool creatures and interact them with one another instead of evolving the whole thing over. That's more like the other games on the forum in my opinion.

When you say we can only modify 25 things, is that at every evolution or overall?
And if the moderators have a disagreement the worst we can do is lock every thread, delete every post, and try to ban each other until moopli makes like Rayquaza and descends from the heavens to quell our battle.

But yeah that's a good question, 25 things for one time is a lot but only overall that doesn't seem to cut it. Does that include behavior or only physical things?

Ok. I think I'll start with a simple organism.
Name: Pedicurus Description: Pedicurus look very much like large woodlice. They have a protective layer of armour on their bodies and as such cannot swim very fast. Instead of legs, they have several flippers on each side of their body to glide along the seafloor. They have a pair of antennae at the front which they use to sense movement in the water.
They are very common and rely on large numbers to keep the species alive as they have little defense. They mostly mindlessly graze the seafloor, eating even simpler, multicellular organisms.

Species Designation: Sarcasmus
Species Description: A translucent worm, roughly .5 millimeters in length. It dwells near hydrothermal vents, passively consuming detritus that falls from above. It has a simple alimentary canal, a vascular system that can transport nutrient fluid (although there is no equivalent yet to a red blood cell), a simple lymphatic system, a master gland that will provide the basis for a circadian rhythm as well as cephalization, and several bioluminescent patches along its midline. These splotches are derived from specialized cells that utilize Cyan Fluorescent Protein which fluoresces when exposed to calcium and reactive oxygen species. It does not have any gender distinctions, and reproduces by the combination of two identical gametes. Low energy needs, coupled with abundant foodstuffs and a relative dearth of predators, allow this species to exist in the millions, with subspecies distributed across almost every vent community on the planet.

To act as though any of the Sarcasmus were capable of comprehending their existence or being conscious of their activity would be ridiculous, given their lack of nervous system. Even still, one is responding to external cues from the vents as though it were undertaking a chosen action. This Sarcasmus is striking off alone toward a sulfur plume, seeking to "ingest" some of the chemo-synthesizing bacteria within (slow going, considering its lack of muscle tissue).
