I think I just prefer the user interface from this forum more then the other one. I also might be a tad bit weird, but I kinda like refreshing my webpage. That way it feels more like the website moves at my pace, instead of the other way around. My biggest complain with this forum are the bot attacks. However they seem quite manageable at the moment. We could always just knock on proboards doors and ask them for tighter security. Or perhaps we should add more mods to combat the bots. That would seem like an easy solution.

I personally prefer the user interface for this forum - and I like refreshing my webpage too. Basically, my opinion is classyus's.

Something to remember is that while *we* can be ok with the occassional korean spambot, it could turn off new users (and old users that left but are coming back) if it's the first thing they see, because it gives the feeling of abandon.

I don't think so and here is why: I don't think that the comunity forums is the first place people would come into contact with the Thrive project. In a thread a while back that asked people how they first knew about Thrive, none of them said that they found it through the comunity.
However, there is also a second reason why I don't think people will get turned off by the spambots. The bots almost never last any longer then a day. People can see that. They can also see us reacting to the bots in the shoutbox which also has a time and date with it. Unless someone is very impatient and leaves the minute they load up the forums for the first time, we should be fine. After perhaps 3 minutes of looking on this forum, they should see that it is still active. Just looking at 'members active today' and they would see that quite a lot of people come to this forum on a daily basis. It would probably be wise to react in some way to the bot attacks in the shoutbox. Any newcomer would see that the forum is not always like this and that we are still active.

The results weren't as clear cut as I expected, but there you go, the slight majority of people who bothered to vote want us to stay here. I'll get on restoring the FAQ and other things then.

Right. hyyrylainen and I are once again thinking about moving this forum elsewhere. Due to the way Proboards works, we can't realistically transfer user data. This in my opinion is the main and only real disadvantage of moving. I've spent some time working on the theme of the suggested replacement forum again: community.revolutionarygamesstudio.com/I think it looks quite nice now. My only real gripe is the massive amounts of unused space in a post stream, which I think can be fixed with some CSS wizardry I haven't yet stumbled across. There are a few things we can fix easily: signatures and (we think) post counts under avatars can be added, for example. There are also many plugins for other things. Take a look and tell us if you have any suggestions: meta.discourse.org/c/plugin

I'm just not a fan of the way the new forum works. It's just a personal preference.

I quite like how it works, especially since you don't have to consistently refresh the page to see new stuff. It's just a shame that the shoutbox doesn't exist.

It looks great, I am now even more for migrating. I feel like a big part of the reason a lot of people want to stay is because they're just used to this forum, and if we were to spend some time on the new one, opinion might change.

Teensy-weensy little probemo. ![]() why does every image i upload here become very small
This occurs occasionally. It's either my laptop being an annoying little- ...just annoying, or it's a genuine problem. Probably the former.

A couple of useful community-oriented things we could add that we have no way of adding here: - Discourse notifications to Discord - Cakes on your profile when it's your birthday (https://meta.discourse.org/t/cakeday-celebrating-birthdays-and-anniversaries/38447) - Post reactions (https://meta.discourse.org/t/retort-a-reaction-style-plugin-for-discourse/35903) - Push notifications for desktop and mobile (https://meta.discourse.org/t/discourse-push-notifications/46692) - Shoutbox with longer history (https://meta.discourse.org/t/babble-a-chat-plugin/31753) - Auto-posts from RSS feeds such as the website or YouTube channels EDIT: Ninja'd. Err, I don't know what might be causing that. I'll pass it on to hhyyrylainen.

Quite frankly, I'm going to miss this old forum. So many memories, so many built up posts...
PS: Some new emoticons would be cool...

Take a look and tell us if you have any suggestions: meta.discourse.org/c/pluginI didn't find a way to get post counts to show up and I didn't bother with the signatures plugin as I think it will clutter the page too much (if there is major push back from everyone, I can give people about 80px tall signatures (which is about the same height as a single line post). But I installed the following plugins: - Bable (the shoutbox replacement, click the megaphone icon in the top right to see it)
- User reputation badges (now based on an user's level there's a badge next to their name). This allows easily to notice new users and very active users. Everyone else gets just clumped to Member and Basic
- Cakeday for showing cake emoji after users names who have birthdays
- More formatting buttons in the editor (I also added some formatting help to the initial welcome to discourse message)
- A list of online users (and also in posts online users have a green outline on their avatar)
- retort, which allows reacting to posts with emoji (I limited it to a set of only a few)
I also tweaked the style to remove as much vertical space as possible, now a single line post is only as tall as a 120px tall avatar. And it should all also work on mobile.

Help,i go to my email but i do not see any email from the new forums I saw your post there so I assume you managed to sign up. I was doing some email testing so I saw in the logs mails going to an invalid gmail address so you probably initially mistyped it.
