I found Thrive a few years ago. I don't actually remember when, but if I were to look through my history on reddit, I might find the actual date.

I've actually been watching Thrive for a while. Had enough time to forge myself on old threads on the old forum even while it was active.
That Poisson guy has a Chandelure (a Pokémon) avatar on the old forum. For a while, his dig had a cool story in it. I'll try to write it up to my memory:
"One night, I had a dream about Thrive. I was a shark-like creature swimming in a swamp, looking for a mate. The dream cuts to a scene like an abandoned city. My shark creature is different now, more streamlined.
Then I come across this ugly... Thing. A nauseating neon green humanoid, with large eyes and lips and bulbous hands. I realize that this is a creature from Spore.
I realized that we can do this. If we focus on gameplay and realism, we can make something that people will love."
EDIT: I've got my account on the Sporum, so I'm about to make the most diabolical necropost of my life. Granted, the rules there are that a necropost is fine if it's on-topic, and this one's three years old, as opposed to one that was four years old.

i only found thrive this summer so i espicially have no idea
NOTE: am i the only one who thinks it's amazing that everyone seems to be starting to say when they discoverd thrive lol
EDIT: ok since where know also saying how we found thrive i'll tell you how i found it : one day i was scrolling through some screenshots of spore on steam i saw a thrive related one searched it up wasn't that interested about 2 weeks later i thought welp let's take another look became interested and joined this forum

I think Sciodont is the oldest current member. And we don't see much of him lately. ~sciocont. You must always add the tilde. Yeah, we emailed him a few months ago and he replied saying he might turn up again in the near future, but so far we've heard nothing else. Since we're all doing origin stories, I'll add mine. I saw a comment in an unrelated gaming video in mid-2012 mentioning Thrive, so I looked it up and found its IndieDB page. Naturally, with the Disturbance and the Main Theme and everything it seemed interesting, but I mostly forgot about it as there weren't any updates. I absent-mindedly wondered how it was going one day and clicked through to the forums, and bam, the rest is history. |

I'm not sure what year I exactly found Thrive but I think it may have been 2013. I was looking up videos of the "Old Spore" on Youtube and happened across a comment talking about a better Spore in development. I messaged the author of the comment and they told me all about Thrive circa 20013. The also gave me a link to the IndieDB page and I followed it for a few months. Then I got my devices taken away and I lost touch with the whole project for a period of time.
Afterwards I found the old Dev Forum and made an account. Got in trouble again, lost touch with the project for another period of time... when I came back the old forum was dying and after a few months everyone came here. So here I am!
EDIT: What's ~sciocont been up to these days anyway?

We have no idea, but that's okay. His life, he can do what he wants with it. He did a good job of handing off responsibilities, so we're not crippled without him or anything.
