I agree with Atrox:p We should save up MP for a really nice mutation we unlock later.

Slatherns and Odelorns agree
Saving up our eggs for when we make more chickens is good. Attacking thkngs that are different from us is good.

You attempt to communicate to your fellows your strategy. Unfortunately, your species lacks the mental prowess to communicate effectively, that and your lack of communicative organs. Fortunately, your jerking motions have focused their attention on a Slathern (+2 MP). They follow your lead to the armored mollusk, standing behind you in anticipation. The three of you are to its left; you swim to its right side, making sure your "packmates" stay to the left.
You then ram into the side of the creature, attempting to reach the unarmored underbelly. Your fellows attack from their side as the Slathern bucks in panic, smacking you three with its hard shell several times. All the while, you three nip at the underbelly until sizable rips spill its insides into the water. You've successfully killed it. Unfortunately, it seems like two Odelorns (+2 MP) caught on to what just happened. One of them taps the other with a horn, and they proceed to swim down to your location, albeit slowly.
You have 2/3 health.
You have 2/3 stomach.
You have 9 MP.

Mutation: None yet Action: Grab some tasty morsels and book it. Or hide in the shell and keep eating the dead Slathern.
I'm giving you guys two possible options. I personally think we should hide inside and eat.

Edit: So I replaced everything, because peer pressure. I'll have what Rowdy and Atrox are having.

We outnumber them, but they have horns that would easily impale us, so we've got three options.
[Option 1] Mutate: None, we need some time to eat Action: Hide in the shell of the Slathern, don't evolve and miss out on some MP to fight for another day.
[Option 2] Mutate: None, save our MP for now Action: Get away as fast as we can, then hide in the sand for a turn to evolve. We'll attack them when they're not looking afterwards.
[Option 3] Mutate: Spines Action: Become a spiky ball of doom, let them rip themselves to shreds, eat what's left over. Simple and effective.
My vote's going for the third. Once we let them become basically swiss cheese, all we have to do is eat the whole buffet of Slathern Stew and Odelorn Lasagna, with some MP to boot.

I'm finalizing my vote to:
Mutation: None Action: Hide in the shell with friends and eat Slathern. When Odelorns leave we emerge, sneak up behind, and bite their butts.

In that case, we could try mutating a chitinous shell? Once we have that shell, we can roll up into something like a pill bug or roly-poly for the same effect, but this time they'll just give up and run away.
Spikes'll come later on top of that shell so we'd never run into this situation again.
Even if their long horn reached us, it couldn't scratch us.

Well what I was thinking is we hide in the shell and stock up MP, then when they go away we evolve that spike. Then we just sneak up behind them and boom. Dead pair of Odelorns.

Hmm... so instead of evolving a spike, couldn't we just run away, sneak behind them and nip at them to spill out their insides?
MP-efficient, since we only use our mouths. Then we could mutate a shell and a spike (later on, thanks to our saved MP) to end up as something like an underwater, turtle-unicorn.
Defense and offense all in one.

Ambush flanking is the idea? Basically, are we gonna hide in the crystal shell, wait till their backs are turned and flank the bejeezus out of them?
We are a sneaky species aren't we?

As the duo of Odelorns approaches, an idea comes upon you. Your comrades watch the horned creatures anxiously while you try to bite your way into the Slathern's corpse, nibbling into the soft flesh (+4 MP). They catch on to your plan and do the same, while helping you try to turn the chitinous shell over yourselves. You succeed right when the horned aggressors arrive.
While lacking ears, you feel the vibrations caused by the Odelorns' ramming into the shell. Despite its strength, you can see the shell starting to crack from the brute force. Just as it seems like they'll break through, the battering ceases. It seems your horned foes have finally relented.
You have 3/3 health.
You have 3/3 stomach.
You have 14 MP.

Well that was close... Mutation: Spines and horns Action: Leave the shell and stalk the Odelorns Note: mitobox how big are the Odelorns?

Well that was close... Mutation: Spines Action: Leave the shell and stalk the Odelorns Note: mitobox how big are the Odelorns? A tidbit larger than you. About proportional to the Asian-African elephant size difference.

I agree with Atrox!! Except maybe we could go with the "bite 'em in the buns" plan? Extra food means extra foodstuffs.

Let's go after 'em!
If we can sneak up on them, we can bite their underbellies, so if they notice us, all we have to do is ram our newly-mutated spines into them and BAM! Insta-swiss cheese Odelorn, just like the idea from before.

All of that and there's always the chance that they're waiting for us to come out. It's best for us to evolve spines before we leave. We can bite their tushies once we ensure the coast is clear and we are safe.
