Could there be important people in your civilization that could use non-violence as a way to resolve problems such has giving rights to an oppressed minority and to make peaceful demonstration like Gandhi, Martin Luther King, etc...?

The ability to get non-violent protesters should be correlated to how violent your species/civilization is in general, if it's more violent; less peaceful protestors, if it's less violent; more peaceful protestors. Though there would be some violent protestors here and there.

There's several different ways people look at history. Some historians think great people drive history forward, that Napoleon, for example, was a very important force in the Napoleonic wars.
Other historians think forces drive history and that economics and rationalism drove the Napoleonic wars and if Napoleon hadn't been there someone else would have filled that role and the outcome would have been much the same.
It'll be really interesting to get into all this when it comes to building the society stage.
