Just throwing these ideas out there. Name: Democratic Evolution Game Description: This is pretty much the reverse of the Official Thrive Forum Game; rather than play as their own species and guide their evolution, players here would come in to vote on how a single species should evolve, while collectively controlling an individual one to use these mutations to progress and overcome obstacles as part of a larger story. Rules: Fairly straightforward; majority vote wins, be sensible, no petty squabbles over voting, etc. What would the GM have to do: Take into account every vote to determine evolution and actions, describe environment and NPC's to allow decision making, that kind of thing. Other: Here's the URL of the game inspiring this (since I'm on mobile): www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?171045-The-Spore-Game

I really like RP's where we take control of one member of our speceies (Mitobox's Way of the Uetiko Hunter). I'm not sure what one could do to differentiate from intergalactic monster hunting and still keep the RP fun and engaging though..

You could do space dogfights, controlling a single pilot or something. Just a quick idea.

That's not what I had in mind. Atrox wanted a game where you only control one member of your species.

New to the forums (not new to thrive, been following awhile). I had an idea similar to the Official Forum Game (by The Creator). Basically my idea is that each player will start with the same cell, then a dice roll assigns a random mutation, and each player must justify a way that this mutation benefits them. Those who can't or cannot pass muster with their definition go extinct. I am not certain that I could commit the time to mderate this idea, but anyone can feel free to use and adapt it.
Edit 1: The list of mutations should probably be posted at the start of the game to prevent dispute about the fairness of a mutation, etc.

Alternatively, I was thinking that maybe we could have an RP in the vein of Sid Meier's Civilization where we each take control of a nation (either human or alien, depending on the participants' desires) and then have it out. That might require controls on level of detail since it could easily lead to micromanagement, clouding up the forum and making it twenty pages long by day three. So you know, exercise caution.
In reference to Atrox's post above, we could do an RP where a member of several different species crash lands on a planet and they must work together to survive and maybe escape.
Edit: Additionally, there could be an RP wherein everyone takes the role of a civilian during an alien invasion. This would likely suffer from continuity problems in posting, etc. but could be fun.

Sorry to post so much (it's not my intention to be a nuisance) but I had another idea. We could have an RP where everyone chooses an Earth animal, and then we put them in a new environment and imagine how they evolve.
i.e. A cow placed on a jungle planet would have to get smaller, develop camouflage, and maybe work its way toward tree-climbing.

You're not being a nuisance. Just remember, though, you can edit your post so that you don't keep posting new ones continuously. If you don't know how, it's the cog in the top right of each post.

Quick question for those who have hosted/are hosting forum games. Is it stressful? I came really close to starting a thread but I would hate to mismanage it and let people down. Do you recommend it?

Quick question for those who have hosted/are hosting forum games. Is it stressful? I came really close to starting a thread but I would hate to mismanage it and let people down. Do you recommend it? If you want to manage one, go ahead! The ones I've hosted haven't needed exessive moderating, since the people here are chill. Way of The Uetiko Hunter's probably the more complicated of the two I've done, but that's only because my job is to describe the players' environment and control the NPCs. Even then, it's not much of a hassle. Just remember that the RP's that managed to take off have a lot of interaction involved. Kind of a centerfold of Forum Games, really. Even the Picture War.

Name: Hod Cultural Evolution Game(HCEG) 1.5 & beyond
Description: In this first installment of HCEG, I am asking for the player to evolve each creature to create species diversity. If all works as hoped. This will make the end game much more immersive.
A more in-depth description can be found on the project's subreddit here. Also on this subreddit is my earlier HCEG 1.0. where suggestions on more creatures in this game or questions on pre-existing ones can be answered. Rules:
What would the GM have to do: The player will evolve any of the creatures shown with small evolutions in a way that would create a species different.
The player has a maximum of three evolutions out from the main organism, but can make as much evolutions on the original organism as they please. ex. Other: This was intended to be a larger game series on the evogames subreddit. However was cut short before it even started by the death of such subreddit. I hope to continue this series on this forum all the way to a full out forum game somewhat like a far smaller Sagan 4 in size.

X Files RP: The players are interstellar bounty hunters chasing down a fugitive hiding on Earth. They must avoid incidences with the local population, as well as a shadowy supragovernmental organization, and two exceedingly determined FBI agents as they pursue their dangerous quarry.

Tantrum Spiral: Basically, a Dwarf Fortress tantrum spiral in forum game form. Users would control dwarves in the chaos. Example:
"Mitobox punches Rowdy in the upper body with his left arm, but the attack is deflected by the kangaroo leather shirt!"
And so on. The moderator would control NPCs, such as rampaging elephants.
Alternatively, we could try holding a succession game (like Boatmurdered), but I'm not sure how that would work.

I like being the GM of games in this style, though I am pretty busy latelly.
Name: Evolution Games Description: Rules: There are two modes: One with "teams" (solo or more than one person) or "all vote for one". What would the GM have to do: Count the votes, apply the penalties and bonuses, roll the dice and write the round (games with more engaging stories, and detailed explanations are far more immersive!) Example:
Name: Plantanimalia exosceletales venenosa Prey: Sunlight(decreased-); Predator: None, but the lack of sunlight due to dust is still a tiny problem. Now they can no longer digest other cells it has worsened. Population: VU, due to lack of sunlight and preys, and the opposite fins that hinder the locomotion in water. Description: Plantanimalia exosceletales venenosa are evolved from Plantanimalia venenosa. Plantanimalias are peculiar creatures, as the name suggests, are a mix of plant and animal, being a tangle of nerves, muscles and systems of the most diverse (in addition to being green). Recently developed long and large leaves, which makes absorption of solar energy ridiculously large, causing it unnecessary to be carnivore; but by the other way evolved strange bones that hinder their locomotion in water. It has an strong exoskeleton, which helps to store water and protects the organs. They are far bigger than their ancestors, and have a wonderful eyesight. They live much as their ancestors coming months to live, due to lack of natural predators and their evolution. Recently adopted a round-shaped pizza format. Environment: Leo oceans, due to the thick layer of dust they try to stay at a level below the surface to not get intoxicate. Special adaptations:Nucleus; mitochondria; DNA; bigger (+); long cilias; long flagellum; chloroplasts; better carotenoides; better+ poison; colonial behavior; multicellularity; basic tissues; basic digestive system; good circulatory system; blue blood; pizza-shaped body; good eyespots; evolved muscles; evolved nerves; exoskeleton; absurdly big leaves; small bones that hinder the locomotion in water; good endothermic reactions; slightly mesothermic; mediocre lateral line; incredible good eyesight; immunity against Venenosum terrae herba venom; dessiccation resistance; Symbiosis: None.
