Hello! Welcome to the Way of the Uetiko Hunter forum role play. Here, you will take the mantle of hunters tracking down the vicious Uetikoes plaguing New Vrontu, on planet Scalagas.
Backstory: Our dark tale begins in the dark, snowy forests of the cold planet Wegon. The native Wegonu civilizations lived in constant fear of monsters they called Uetikoes. Emaciated, humanoid, reptilian monsters with impenetrable hides, unmatched speed and strength, and an infinite appetite for Wegon flesh.
The Wegonu were a resilient species. They built fortresses as cities, with armed guards ever alert for Uetikoes prowling beyond the walls. Skilled Uetiko hunters tracked down and vanquished Uetikoes that had found their way into these cities. Although they were technologically stagnant, they kept the Uetikos in check... until offworlders arrived.
It's not known exactly how, but Uetikoes managed to stow away on exploration vessels. From there, they spread like bloodthirsty vermin, flourishing in the cramped urban environments so familiar to the Galaxy. Police forces and militaries were of little use; no investigation or strike force could hope to hunt them down. Uetiko attacks outnumbered murders on every planet they spread to.
With this new threat to galactic stability, research has to be done. Uetikoes were found to be nocturnal, and were disoriented by bright lights. However, this could only be exploited when their nictitating eyelids were not in use. It was also found that their diet was specialized in the consumption of sapient species, whom there was no shortage of. Their hunting strategy seemed to consist of moving quickly and slashing at the victim's vulnerable parts with their sharp claws. Although Uetiko scales were resistant to firearms and shrapnel, they were not heat proof, so thermal weapons were fair game to both kill them and create wounds not protected by scales.
There was one problem; how could this knowledge be out to use killing Uetikoes if they were so evasive? Intensive studies into Wegonu culture showed how their expert hunters tracked them down. How Uetikoes carved and smeared blood onto surfaces to mark their territory. How they hid in dark places, fearing fire and light.
And so the title of Uetiko Hunter became a profitable occupation. Suddenly, the Uetikoes were the ones being hunted. And this all brings us to the temperate world of Scalagas...
Character Sheet: Name: Species: Appearance: Weapons & Equipment: Experience & Bio: Other Information:
New Vrontu New Vrontu is a highly urbanized settlement on Scalagas. It is surrounded by agricultural land that gives way to dense forests. The locals know quite a lot about their own city, so ask what you need to know.
Rules 1. No godmodding. 2. I will control NPC's, including Uetikoes. 3. Handle disputes civilly. 4. Perform your task of hunting Uetikoes in any way you please, but be aware that New Vrontu has laws. 5. You are not all necessarily on the same side, but don't forget that the Uetikoes are everyone's enemy.

What would fit in the 'species' section

What would fit in the 'species' section Pretty much make up a species for your character to be in. Describe it as you see fit. Another of their kind might show up as an NPC (unless (s)he's the last of his/her kind).

Q1. How sci-fi is this? In terms of technology and species? (FTL travel, crystal monsters, lightsabers, etc.) Q2. What is the limit for equipment? Q3. Are you aware that your refrigerator is running? Q4. Is there currency? If so, do our characters start with a certain amount? Q5. Are there hoomans? Q6. Are the Wegonu hoomans? Q7. Will there be hoomans? Q8. Does the character have to be a hoominoid creature? Q9. Will you (Mitobox) be participating in the game? Q10. What fits in the 'other' section?
Please Pardon my potatoes for all the questions. Answer at your own behest.☺

Q1: Well, I guess anything goes. S'long as it's believable, it works. Q2: In quantity, whatever your character can carry. You could store equipment you don't need in a bag or hotel room, and maybe even upload and download physical weapons onto a digitalized account. In quality, depends on your character's background. An amateur would probably have a cheap flamethrower (or even a normal gun if they haven't done their research), while an experienced Uetiko hunter might have a plasma rifle or railgun and thermal explosives. Q3: Eh, that thing can roam free. S'long as it shows up when I walk into the kitchen. Q4: I suppose it wouldn't be unreasonable to have a universal credit system. Physical currency could be found in some corners of society as well (particularly conservatives or nationalists who want to preserve their culture). Anything goes as long as it's believable, and fits well with your character's background. Q5: I probably won't put any human NPC's in there unless someone plays as one, in which case they'll be another race. Q6: Nope. They're more or less ripped off from based on the Wendigoes from Until Dawn, except reptiles. Come to think of it, the Wendigo Hunter in that game might make a good character inspiration. Q8: Nope. Robot-suited octopi and floating gasbags with guns can be Uetiko Hunters. Just don't be a Uetiko, because Uetikoes aren't very sapient. Q9: Yep! As the rules say, I'll control NPC's, including the Uetikoes. Q10: Anything else about your character you'd like to say that doesn't fit in the other categories. Maybe their personality, maybe a hunting pet they're bringing with them, whatever.
EDIT: Some extra info; killing and bagging a Uetiko allows you to turn it in for credits. Bringing in a live one would probably be worth more, due to research potential. There'd be weapon shops you could buy equipment from (with varying quality based on where in the city they are). For fairness' sake, I'll make the hotels free and have them make money from ad revenue or something.

So how will actions be handled? Will dice be rolled? Is it gonna be just whatever we say goes?

Now that I think about it, having dice rolls would make things more interesting. I've got a D6 near my mouse, so I could use that. Of course, I'd have to figure out what would warrant a dice roll. I suppose it'd be reserved for combat, observation, and injuries, while things like talking to NPC's wouldn't require dice.

One of my friends played a DnD game and rolled to ask a barkeep about some quests... He rolled so bad he skipped the questions part and just cut off his head

Name:
Revver Circon Species: Cyclorotan Appearance: Weapons & Equipment:
- Armored, lightweight, and aerodynamic bodysuit
- Helmet with HUD visor
- Retractable forearm blades
- Holstered (right side) handgun
- Medium sized pack that goes around the shoulders and clips at the front containing:
> Flashlight > Food > Medical supplies > Water > Towel > Copy of Hot Wheels Magazine Experience & Bio: Revver Circon was a newly recruited, yet endlessly talented Cyclorotan knight hailing from the planet Cyclos. When the three rulers of his world heard of the profit available in capturing and terminating the Uetiko threat, they sent a squadron of the best knights at their disposal, including Revver, to investigate. Unfortunately, nothing could have prepared them for the true horror these monsters were capable of. The squadron landed in a forest clearing on the planet Scalagas. Revver, being a rookie, was left to watch the ship while the rest of his team went hunting for the Uetikoes. He remained in the ship for many hours when suddenly he heard gunshots and screaming. Revver opened the hatch and cautiously rolled down the ramp, staring into the forest only to hear the echos of silence. Suddenly a horde of Uetiko burst through the brush and sprinted directly towards him. Revver escaped within an inch of his life. Filled with survivor's guilt, Revver felt a deep shame and a burning rage. He never returned to his home, but he has vowed to destroy every last Uetiko. Revver has now been dispatched on a mission by the Intergalactic Peace Corps to New Vrontu on Scalagas. He will avenge his fallen brothers in arms as the sole survivor of that day. Other Information:- Cyclorotans have evolved a fully functioning wheel powered by the blood that courses through their bodies.
- When a Cyclorotan's heart rate increases, its blood flow and pressure are increased, causing their wheel to begin spinning involuntarily. It's a self preservation mechanism.
- Cyclorotans reach full maturity at the age of 6 months.
- Cyclorotans cannot move for the first 6 months of their lives as the wheel has not yet detached from their bodies.
- Cyclorotans can reach a top speed of 161 kilometers per hour (100 miles per hour).
- Cyclorotans cannot drive backwards.
- By driving their pointed hands into the ground while moving at high speeds, Cyclorotans can turn on a dime.
- Cyclorotans are hermaphroditic.
- Cyclorotans are ectothermic.
- Cyclorotans do not have scales as their dinosaurian body structure would have you believe. They actually have skin similar to humans.
- Revver is 1 year old.
- Cyclorotans percieve the passage of time at about half the rate of other beings, allowing them to think faster, communicate in a blur of voices, and see obstacles coming while traveling at high speeds.
- In Cyclorotan culture, abandoning your duty to the Triarchy is one of the highest forms of treason, and is punishable by death.
- As Revver never returned to his planet, the Triarchy assumed that he had died along with the rest of his squadron.

Didn't expect a motorcycle velociraptor knight to be the first Uetiko hunter here, but OK! Offworlders arrive through the spaceport. I'm assuming Revver'll be dropped off in a ship like the one he stood guard over. Haven't really designed New Vrontu yet, but I'll try describing or showing something at some point. I guess that gives people a chance to get their characters in before the action starts (although anyone could theoretically join at any time, even when/if all the Uetikoes are dead). PS: Revvan's backstory reminds me of the Audio Log at the bottom of this page.

Your post disappeared... Anyway, there'd probably be space for personal ships in the Spaceport. Nothing the size of capital ships, but shuttles and such would be allowed in.
EDIT: Half the post is back... It's a ghooost! (I know it's probably a replacement post, but still.)
