A few hours ago, I read some articles on a science magazine. One was about a new theory about the expansion of the Universe, which said that since the Big Bang, it contracted and then relaxed no less than seven times over the 13.8 billion years of its existence. And this oscillation would continue today, with much lower amplitudes.
The second thing is about Göbekli Tepe, an archeological site in Turkey dating from the late Mesolithic, and the most important things about it is that it contains the world's oldest stone temple ( there is speculation about the fact that this could be where the first religion appeared), it was build that hunter-gatherers (animals were not yet domesticated), and it could be the place where agriculture first appeared.

To address the first point only:
This is a popular theory for the end of the universe, with the other end of the spectrum being the eventual heat death as the universe expands to the point that entropy is at a universal maximum and there is no more energy gradient across spacetime. I like the latter.
