(I didn't know where to put this, so I plopped it into microbe future game.) So, I recently looked at the "Animated menu?" discussion on the development forums, and I quite liked the idea of floating DNA strands. It also inspired me to draw a concept for a new menu. Here's what I thought up- (Sorry for the poor quality) So, the basic menu would be on the left, and if tools/extras is selected, a new menu will open on the right. If you highlight "New game" with your cursor, a octagonal menu will display, and clicking it would grant you options to select. This may be changed if the devs deem it too confusing. DNA strands are floating in the background, just like minegamer's idea, and the menu is designed as if it was a scientific instrument that is studying this DNA. The Thrive logo is at the top-center of the screen. When the octagonal menu is displayed, there's a dropdown with the different stages to go in (obviously you have to unlock them), and a tick to confirm the option. The exit would be red, like an "off" button. An idea I had that I don't think is very appealing to the devs is that once the "exit" button is clicked, the menu "Shuts down" like a computer program, then displays a sort of message to imply that a scientific goal has been reached. :cyclid:

I mean, if you really want to you can. Colours- light blue-faint green for minegamer's background light blue-dark blue menu and octagonal menu different colours of your choosing for the stages in-game colours for preview in the octagonal menu white text black thrive logo red exit button I think I've covered everything if you want the looks of minegamer's background, go into the dev forums and look for "animated menu?" :cyclid:

Looks good in my book!
Granted, it feels "caged in" compared to the in-game menu. Not to mention this idea for the submenus doesn't need the main menu to have empty space in the middle (since it switches to something else):

Not to mention this idea for the submenus doesn't need the main menu to have empty space in the middle (since it switches to something else): As the idea is to have the menu be a scientific instrument, a "caged in" feeling is inevitable. Looking back on it, samoja accidentally placed an option instead of the buttons in the bottom right hand corner, like in my sketch. :cyclid:
