So, let's say, you're just waddling along, minding your own business, and then you suddenly stumble upon a new species. Would there be a sort of programming to say wherever this new species fears you, is curious of your existence, attacks you, etc.?
Say that there's certain modifiers which create a percentage, and based on the percentage amount the creature responds appropriately to the amount.
Here is a theoretical table with percentage responses and modifiers-
Percentages
Modifiers
That's all that I can think of with modifiers for now
I understand that this is a bit confusing, and that it may be a bit of a struggle to program, but, hey, it's an idea.

Here is a theoretical table with percentage responses and modifiers-
Percentages
70%+ | Friendly |
31%-69% | Comfortable with player |
6%-29% | Won't mind/Ignore |
5%--5% | Curious |
-6%--20% | Fear |
-21%--35% | Fearful or alert |
-36%--45% | Alert |
-46%--69% | Territorial |
-70%+ | Attack on sight |
Modifiers
Modifier | Possibility A | Possibility B | Possibility C | Affected by other modifiers? |
Size(Player-Creature) | -90%--20% if significant difference | +10%-20% if similar
Visible strength(Player-Creature) | -14%--49% if yes | -80% if no | 0% if similar
Wounds(Player) | +50% if creature feels sympathetic | -50% if creature sees this as easy pickings | Yes (Behaviour)
Player response | -10%--80% if player is aggressive | +30-90% if player is kind | Yes (Behaviour)
Situation(Disaster ongoing?) | 7% if yes(and negates all other modifiers) | 0% if no
Wounds(Creature) | +50% if creature seeks help from player | -14% if creature feels vulnerable to player | Yes(Behaviour) |
