Okay, so I was about to necropost in a thread I made a while back about "visible light" relative to alien biology, but since I'm a moderator I thought that'd be poor form.
But, more importantly, the reason is that I gave some misinformation that I need to rectify now that I've received proper book larnin'.
In the "Visible Light" thread, I indicated that polarization of light was the attenuation of either its electric or magnetic field components, but I have recently been schooled in the art of physics, and as it turns out, polarization actually refers to the orientation of the electric and magnetic field components in space.
So rather than seeing attenuation, cuttlefish can tell what way light waves are turned relative to other light waves. Why this is useful to them is beyond me, but you go Glen Coco.
Anyway, this probably isn't all that interesting, but it's a load off my mind to correct my mistake.

We're allowed to revive old threads if it's relevant!
But thank you for clarifying (:

Because in the last thread he was referring to we had been discussing polarized light :V I was actually just talking about the idea in general: how do you know if a post is "relevant" enough to post it in a dead thread?

As long as it fits into the discussion.
