Although I'm fairly busy at the moment so can't contribute much to development, I'm still posting this in the hope of creating some more activity here. As the head composer for Thrive, I've been wondering - what are everyone's favourite game soundtracks? Personally, I'm partial to the soundtrack for ParaWorld, an RTS from 2006 about a parallel dimension filled with dinosaurs. It has an epic orchestral score with Asian and African influences. (Playlist: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNRCs1FBW5g&list=PLZIF5KwSY-Wd7I1zn5fwFGLSlg6iDZ2mT&index=23) A close second would be the FTL soundtrack, which couldn't be more different. Ambient electronica creates the perfect soundscape for space voyages in just as epic a manner. (Playlist: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFSHrnqQyV4&list=PLDWrj6ynqDMGiREzFXF_JkuwBi3-pUKJH)

My three favourite soundtracks from videogames are : 1 - Xenoblade Cronicles 2 - Metal Gear Rising 3 - Journey I will just say that every song from the games I chosed motivated me to keep playing them (they are great games themselves , but the soundtracks just finish making them my favourite games) I hope you enjoy those soundtracks if you haven't before

Well... Now it's my turn. Almost all my favourite soundtracks are Zelda ones: 1- The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - IntroYou just turn on the GameCube and this diamond slaps in your face. 2- The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - The Great SeaThis is adventure converted into music. 3- The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - Dragon Roost IslandThis mixes flamenco, bass and an amazing ocarina melody. I've put some of my favourite tracks but here are all. 4- The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask -OST- all Tracks
Just Belgiuming magic. So much nostalgia (and so many eargasms) going on here. 5- Star Fox: Adventures - Full OST
A lost gem. Funnily, the gameplay is very similar to 3D Zelda's. Practically this is all. The best games/soundtracks of my childhood. EDIT: Because I don't want to double post, I'll put here some more soundtracks:6- Prince Of Persia: 2008 - OSTA lot of nostalgia going on here too. This was one of my first games for ps3. IMO a very underestimated game. 7- Uncharted 1 2 & 3 - Nate's ThemeThis is just glorious. I love uncharted.

This and all half life tracks and valve games in general. Kelly bailey is a great composer.
I also really liked shatter's ost
And last but not least: TF2. Probably one of my all time favs. I've never seen a game with a soundtrack that resembles it's artstyle so closely

In no particular order:
- Dark void
- Spacechem
- Morrowind
- X3 Reunion (and most of the other X games, especially for the ambient nature of the music)
and my current favorite: - Ori and the blind forest
I'll also second the FTL ost.

AAaaaagh... Alright, I'm not sure what the specific tracks are called, so I'll just list when they show up
+The 'creature creator' in Spore +The 'create a family' music in Sims 3 (all of it!) +The River and Main Theme of WolfQuest +'Ice' from Borderlands
And I know it's not from a game, but a lot of the music from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron could work for Thrive if tweaked correctly...

I remembered old games from my childhood and some of the musics were memorable. They were games exclusively for Mac.
Here's the tracks I like the most:

The music from Dawn of war 2 retribution, it was powerful on some parts.
I really liked the Tyrian soundtrack because of its intensity, it makes you feel like an unstoppable space adventurer

Kind of surprised EVO: Search for Eden isn't here. Basically, it's a 2d sidescroller where you evolve from the age of fish to the age of mammals, fighting whatever threats to the "balance of nature" exist on your main quest to become Gaia's partner to rule the world. On the way, you find crystals that are disrupting natural evolution (causing giant insects, Tyrannosaurus rexes, etc).
This theme plays in the early stages in the age of fish (Cambrian-Devonian).
This theme plays in the age of fish when you're on the road to overthrow giant sharks trying to prevent life on land, as well as the levels preceding your fight against the T.rexes.
When you unlock the flying body (pteranodon) in the age of dinosaurs, you unlock a level in the sky with this peaceful theme playing.

LISA: The Painful RPG has some really nice music to it. It's all really unique to the game. Some of my favorites:

3079 is the only game I've played out of this list, but these are all great.

I had a quick go at editing a few posts to put the videos in spoilers to see if it would improve loading times. It didn't. Unfortunately that means there's no way to embed large numbers of videos without massive load times. Try posting just the links instead as much as possible from now on, like in Cobalt's post.

A couple more of my favourites, without embedding any videos this time: Impossible Creatures: Menu ThemeIf animals played a jazz band. Civilization V: Field of PoppiesGenerally played after a nuclear strike, and you can hear why. Victoria II: Europe Anno 1850Paradox's soundtracks in general are all pretty good, but this is the most memorable for me. Civilization Beyond Earth: XenomalleumAn amazing blend of orchestra, choir and synthesizers gives a serene feeling of exploring the cosmic frontier. Papers Please: Theme SongSimple but effective, like glorious Arstotzkan habitation system. Glory to Arstotzka! The Stanley Parable: Following Stanley
Damdadaadam daadamdaa, damdadaadam daadam daadam... EDIT: I forgot some. Kerbal Space Program: Title Theme
The perfect soundtrack for conquering space, flying to the stars and accidentally killing kerbals because you forgot to add parachutes. LittleBigPlanet: Volver a Commenzar
All the LittleBigPlanet games used licensed music to great effect, especially since none of it was well-known beforehand (in the US/UK, at least: this song was somewhat popular in Mexico). LittleBigPlanet 2: SleepyheadSimilar story. I find this song even better with lyrics, as weird as they are. And then there's this. Gran Turismo 5: 5OUL ON D!SPLAYThe opening theme for GT5 Spec 2.0. In my opinion, it narrowly beats the better-known song that began the game before the update, Planetary: Go.

I'm personally feeling rather nostalgic and suddenly sort of happened upon this thread, so here's a particular song I could (try to) dance to back in Pokémon Colosseum, Miror B.'s theme ("Retro Groove"): And who could forget Super Mario 64's "Main Theme"? Especially while being chased around by that enormous Chain Chomp on those rolling hills: Words cannot describe the amount of time I devoted or fun I had while playing Dragon Quest IX's Sentinels of the Starry Skies, so without further ado, here's the marvelous "Overture" from the opening video: Special Mentions
