Round 8: The Age of Ancients: The Rise of Bronze In the North, multiple discoveries push the various tribes closer and closer to what we recognize today as the first city states of the Ancient World, and the first evidence of Metalworking is found in this time frame, as well as a greater mixture of various items and tools in closer proximity, indicating the mixing of ancient cultures. In the other parts of the world, people continue to define their own lives.

“And herein lie the secrets of the Universe, Math!”- High Shaman Teil Liom to his class of shamansThe rise of the Desot also saw the rise of his most loyal supporters to some positions of power within the Kometenvolk nation. Namily came the rise of a prominent Shaman by the name of Teil Liom, who pursue the interesting field of space and relationships to agriculture, namely how to maximize production of crops from as little space as possible. Thus came the rise of the field of geometry, and the usage of space in relation to other space. He proposed how to set up the crop bushes in numbers and spacing hoping to maximize the production of food for the Kometenvolk. He also proposed setting up a series of circles and triangles to hopefully minimize the travel time between not only the plants in relation to each other, but also to the increasing number of villages that were forming from the groups of Kometenvolk who have been slowly spreading out across the desert, looking for oasis and good planting grounds for their crops. This has lead to a growth in the field of Astronomy, as the various groups of travelers and merchants who often travel in the night to both avoid the heat of day, but also thanks to the easy navigation allowed by following the stars.
This increased amount of trading and constant movement through the desert has lead to the creation of instruments facilitating the movement of large amounts of goods in the form of basic baskets and carts that are tied to the Kometenfolger, though unfortunately the wheels attached to the carts often break or get worn down quickly due to the sandy and desert conditions they face. Despite this, the increased amount of carrying capacity these carts and baskets provide allow for greater transportation and larger amounts of food being brought in on each go. The Kometenfolger necessary to carry to baskets and wagons are unable to carry their own passengers, and have to be monitored for health problems due to the heavy loads, but besides that things are going well with the idea.
In the meantime, the first scouts of the Kometenvolk to the Northwest have made a startling discovery: they have encountered the forward scouts sent from not one, but two separate groups. The groups encountered are obviously two different cultures.
The ones who floated down from the river on boats, appearing to be rather tanned, a bit of a reddish brown. They speak their words rather fast and often blending together, with some occasional drawn out sounds in the middle of the words. These people, after some deciphering on the part of the scouts and a game of charades, reveal they are from some place called the Kore Republic, saying they were sent on behalf of a council of leaders, and they seek to understand why you have come so close to their homes. The group on shore seems to be friendly, but they still have groups on board the boats that appear to hold weapons at the ready, though the weapons are unlike any seen by the Kometenvolk. The men on the shore seem to be communicating with the boats before each round of talks, specifically one in particular, who wears a style of dress different from the majority of the group.
The other group, coming from the same side of the river as your own but seem to be coming from further past the hills, and speak in a language different from both the Kometenvolk and the Kore. It contains a higher vocal range and some different pitches signifying different words and intentions. Thanks in part to the teamwork of the Kore and the Kometenvolk, it has been established that these people belong to a group known as the Pyrean Holy Kingdom, sent forth by the Rex of the city, and they have been instructed to seek new lands and people to befriend. They all carry some form of weapon, whether slings or spears, and they seem to group close together around central figures, who speak a quick phrase after mention of the Rex.
The group that found the spirit portal are now on their way back to the tribe with the surprising news. They are currently unaware of the change in leadership, or style of government. They also are running low on supplies and are forced back. However, some of the scouting group are reporting slight illness after leaving the portal, and others report the feeling of being followed during the night.

“There are those who believe our future lies beyond these tall grasses. I however, believe it would be best to improve what we currently hold”- Hearth-Tahnso Mika, on why he tasked others to build Following the return of the scouting parties lead by Tiku Malis, and the discovery of other small lands suitable for the Hakshah to inhabit, the Tahnso reconvened and agreed to the idea of spreading their people to the new locations with the hope of allowing more resources and food to spread around the tall grasses. As such, and with the Head Shaman Muloku Vispar’s agreement, small groups of brave souls were tasked to settle these lands that were not very far away from the current location of the Holy State.
To help facilitate the movement of these settlers, the Tahnso tasked Tiku Malis and his scouts to attempt finding ways to bring the creatures along with the Hakshah carrying their supplies. These efforts did not quite go as planned, as it turns out that the creatures mainly seem to just follow the paths cleared and eat the tall grasses growing on the edges of the path. Those that have been corralled together do not react well to having things placed on their backs, often dropping down and refusing to move until the weight is lifted. However, if the weight is placed behind them and dragged along the ground, they move slowly but seem to carry it.
While inspecting the building around the small location that the Hakshah call home the Tahnso tasked with ensuring adequate storage of goods, Miska, returned to the council distraught about the quality and capacity of the buildings. The council then gave sanction to experiment with the buildings and attempt to make them better. Realizing the straw shelters were not enough for the Hakshah to live in comfortably, Miska organized a group of workers to think of ideas to help improving the shelters, and during one of the meetings, one of the workers noticed the mud near the watering hole would, when shaped and left away from the water, harden into the shape and be hard to take apart, especially if it was intertwined with bits of straw. Taking this discovery, the group of workers spent hours and days making the structures as best they could, mixing mud and straw and various other bits of hard things found, and eventually they were able to mold the basic structure of a building in such a way the sides did not easily collapse. The only problem was creating a top that would not weigh so much as to collapse, when a child managed to point out the obvious, why not use the straw shelters as the roofs of the buildings? And so the first actual structures of the Hakshah took form. These structures quickly spread through the holy state, offering much more insulation, protection, and space than the original structures. Now the more permanent structures are visible through the watering hole, and are being spread to the other colonies forming in the Garden. These structures not only provide housing, but are also useful for having a storage space for food, and Mosi are often seen creating homes underneath the structures.

Vote: Wine (16/10)
Vote: Metalworking (15/15)
“Among the Kore you will find one of three things. A drunkard, a blacksmith, or a fisher, and sometimes you will find all three.”- The Scribe, found in personal records of Fallish Mureka The Kore have made a startling discovery, when pressing their teal berries to the point of squeezing out the liquid and letting it sit out for a while in a reasonably contained place, the juice would turn a bit more sour and give a pleasant after feeling. This special juice has become a strong part of the Kore identity, with it being used for everything from big festivals to small family dinners. This has lead to some people becoming addicted to the wine, but for the most part, people are drinking responsibly, besides the celebrations. Because the wine lasts longer and is generally more safe to consume than the river’s water, almost everyone drinks the wine and people are often drinking it for almost everything.
Another discovery made by the Kore comes almost as a complete accident. When attempting to clear some of the soil near the riverbank for their plants, the Kore manage to dig up some strangely colored rocks that are hard and difficult to break. Thinking the rocks could be used to help keep the fires in place for cooking meat, they were used as the base for a fire. In the morning it was discovered that the intense heat of the fire caused the rocks to become misshapen, but they maintained their hardness, breaking the stone axes that were attempting to break the strange rocks. Intrigued, the Kore involved brought the strange rocks to the Scribe and the Council, where it was suggested the rocks could be shaped into tools to be used by the farmers and fishers of the Republic, and at one suggestion even weapons. It was agreed to try finding more of the strange rocks and see how they could be shaped to perform the tasks desired.
To the south of the Republic, there are reports from the contact party send to interact and halt the advance of the mysterious intruders that were found along the river. They party consists of multiple boats manned by the Guardian (the councillor elected to represent the profession of those who work along the hunters, scouts, and gatherers tasked with the job of protecting them from wild beasts) and his handpicked scouts and representatives. They report not one, but two distinct groups to have been found at almost the exact same time, surely a sign of fortune for the Republic. He sends a party to the shore, but maintains the hunters and fishers trained with the bow on the boats along with himself.
The first group, coming along on beasts that remind the Kore of the Crocigators of the river, are surprisingly light skinned, and covered in a style of dress that covers most of their body and even face, with few spots to have exposure to the sun or water. They speak a strange tongue, seemingly long words that have specific meaning to their people. They claim to be sent not by a singular leader, but by their whole people in an attempt to find new people to trade with, and come from a place they claim has no river, or even wine! The group come from what they call are the “people of the sky rock”, or Komentenvolk. They are also quite open, at least compared to the group that has arrived without being spotted by either of the groups scouts.
This second group seems to be much more organized, but also a bit more prepared and standoffish, if only because they are obviously carrying more weapons, in fact every member of the group carries a type of weapon. They seem to be centered around a few individuals who are in a much more leadership role. They have a quicker language than the others, with words signified mainly by pitch and seemingly context. After some deciphering it is understood they originate from a land that is to the East, and they are here at the request of a “Rex” from the “ The Kingdom of Pyrea”, and they are seeking to make friends throughout the world.

TheGraveKnight - Xi`thoi Tribe Vote: Xi`Thardan Diversification (14/10)
“We and the Xi’Thardan have lived together for years, and we will continue to live with them for years”- Herdkeeper Jas’Malk Over the last few generations, the Xi’Thardan have been artificially selected and breed to become two separate breeds, one to maintain their thick stature and to hold the supplies of the tribe or the gatherers when they depart from the village. The second group that are thinner and slightly shorter, but also faster, and used mainly for the scouts as mounts, though they are also used by some of the hunters to help chase down prey. The fastest and largest mounts, however, are reserved for those who are near the top of the list of merit.
The distribution of the mounts happens on the year one becomes a member of the tribe, or when they enter puberty. They are distributed by an order of merit distinguished from the point scale, more related to the field they enter than the good they do for the tribe. Every person bonds to, and subsequently becomes responsible for, one of the Xi’Thardan. The good breeding and health of an individual's Xi’Thardan becomes synonymous with their own, and is an important indicator of prestige in the tribe.
These new breeds help both speed up the scouting of the local area, and with the amount of goods brought in everyday from the gatherers and the loggers nearby.
This is accelerated by the use of field searches and a different form of gathering developed by the Xi’Thoi who have, over the generations they’ve been near the lake, developed their own techniques to maximize food production to the tribe. There has also been a push to harness the food found within the water of the lake, oftentimes the young of the tribe would spend the afternoons they do not have at class, before they are of age to leave the tribes safety, at the lake catching fish for an after dinner snack. Though this is a small tradition it is still an established youth pastime.
With even more food being brought in, the establishment of a steady home, the organization of the tribe, and the new ability to influence a larger region than previously, the Xi’Thoi tribe has become a minor power in the region they reside within, the SouthWest

“Go forth, to lands unknown, to destinations unseen, and to friends unmet. Go forth, in the name of Pyrea, and in the name of your Rex. Go forth, and explore.”- Rex Adeodatus Marcus to his chosen representative Daemones Quintillus While listening to the old tales spun by his Priestium, Rex Adeodatus Marcus comes to the realization that when his ancestors partook in the “Great March”, they had left behind many of their friends and family in a different and lost land. Coming to conclusion that these people may have survived in the wasteland beyond the Holy Land, the Rex addressed his Tribal Council, imploring them to send expeditions into the wilds to try finding souls worth saving in the outer world. Realizing such an action will revitalize the population, as well as hopefully bring in more people to the Kingdom, as well as increasing their people standing in the eyes of the Gods, the Council relents.
A group of seasoned soldiers in the Rex’s Army are chosen to go out beyond the borders, with hopes of finding other people and resources for the Kingdom, as well as a small selection of scribes to record the discoveries, and scouts to bring water and food to the group in the strange new lands. They set out with a high ranking noble Daemones Quintillus as the chosen representative of the Rex to any new groups encountered. As they set out to the west hoping to find others, they make good progress, thanks in part to favorable weather and the fervor in which they partake in their tasks. Along the way they discover a few plants and animals, one important discovery is a strange two legged animal that grazes a little Northwest of the Pyrean City, which seem to have sturdy body and long legs that allow them to cover a lot of distance in a relatively short period of time, and are covered in feathers and posses a beak with teeth within it. Realizing the potential uses for a quick moving ridable animal, Quintillus sends word back to the city, but must continue onward without the creatures.
As the company continues west, the Kingdom of Pyrea discovers something within the hills close to their cities, some form of rock that can be easily shaped if taken from the hills and put into a large fire. This discover makes the Rex intrigued at the possibilities of what they could be used for, and so he dispatches groups of men to mine the hills looking for more of the material, and brings the material to groups of people within the city who have the largest furnaces, attempting to shape the rocks in ways that could become useful, or at least pretty enough to wear as jewelry. This sets off a fashion race in the upper portion of the nobility, sending out people to try mining the hills for more jewels or metal to gift the Rex.
Meanwhile, the actual expedition sent outwards finds the tracks of a rather large group, as well as some unseen creatures that are quite unfamiliar. Deciding to follow this path, and being able to go quick a quick speed due to the clearing of a path by those before them, the group comes across a large river, much larger than the one near their home. This river haves large trees along the banks and the group manages to spot an interaction further along the river. Two quite different looking groups making contact, One who seem to be living on trees floating on the river, and another that seems to be hugging the shoreline with strange creatures that have a slight resemblance to creatures in the Pyrenean mythology as the followers of the eastern sun.
The ones who float on trees, appearing to be rather tanned, a bit of a reddish brown. They speak their words rather fast and often blending together, with some occasional drawn out sounds in the middle of the words. “With this discovery we stand to finally be able to defend ourselves and those that stand beside us!”- Warrior Elica Moraz rallying people for an attack While there has not been war across the Valley, neither has there been any peace. The temporary armistice has only seen the cession of fighting within the valley, when groups travel beyond the valley there is still fighting between the hunting and gathering groups, though there has not been any move within the valley for an attack against one another. The Alcos and Acirema have together made the discovery of mining, within the hills of the valley are clumps of rocks that, when heated to a high temperature, can be melted and shaped into different things that happen to maintain their hardness. With the ongoing conflict, this discovery is evidently put into place with the development of more weapons.
These weapons have mainly taken the form of heads for spears, though there is an effort to create another form of weaponry, a large sharp weapon meant to be swung, there has been no actual progress in making the weapon useable on a wide scale.

“With these, will we finally be free? Or will we be imprisoned anew?”- Hargod Son of YarkAs the Potatorynu have managed to save themselves from the Night Hunters from beyond the Wall of Thorns, they now reach the problem of allowing themselves the ability to leave the wall during the day, and of how to better protect themselves at night. Sometime after this the attempt expeditions into the nearby caves during the day to attempt finding things to be used. While they do find some fish and even some berries from the Wall, they do not venture in too deep from fear of the Night Hunters or sleeping Forbears.
Meanwhile the Potatorynu also develop more mobile versions of their spears and harpoons, much smaller sticks that can be thrown from afar thanks to the sting and wood. While the specific details and quality varies from bow to bow, on a whole these inventions are quite helpful not only for the hunting of fish further in the water, but also as a means of reassurance and safety, giving fishers, hunter and gatherers the courage to go out for longer times and to drive the forbears away from some of the more profitable hunting spots on the rare occasion the groups cross paths with them.

“As we find with Ektar, this world exists to provide, and as such, we must work to provide to this world as it provides to us”-Ekuros the First With the advent of a new age of governance, and with a growing population of people to support, the Ekuros has laid forth an initiative to his Karti and Priesthood, find a way to improve the amount of food coming in and being distributed to the people. The priesthood, whom have the privilege of working day to day with the people, bring this task to the peasantry, with the promise of an audience with the Karti for those whose ideas take hold. Hoping for a way to better their place in life, the farming groups have been working for ways to breed bigger and better Neshlek Berries, including the idea to start planting different not eaten animals into the ground to help decompose and feeding the plants. This actually works brilliantly, and the amount of food being brought in increased. This has the effect of giving the people new encouragement in the divine grace of Ektar and the rightfulness of Ekuros. The peasant responsible for the discovery was brought before the Kartur and Ekuros, and came before them with another proposal; according to a vision he had, the land under the Kingdom continued a metal that, when melted, would grant the Orzal control over the swamp.
Intrigued by the woman, Ekuros tasked a group to explore and find the rocks. During the meeting however, the Ertori overheard her claim of vision, and so planned contingencies if she turned out to be correct, or wrong. The second in charge of the Ertori formed a second group with the special task of protecting this woman, and seeing if she had any more visions while the scouts attempted to find the mystical rocks.

“The network exists to help unite the Clans, and also perhaps to discourage the Dikl’s from attacking one another. But if that fails, at least the Limu will have the advantage in arms”- Kun Freda, to the council of LimcasThrough the Valley itself, there is peace, beyond the Valley however, groups of hunters and warriors often clash between each other. While for now the exchanges are minor with no large casualties, this fighting highlights the unstable situation the Limu find themselves in, with the Alcos and Limcas still solidly divided. This is only exasperated by the fact that a Clan was cast out for their refusal to take part in the war, the Thorian Outcasts.
Among the Limcas however, the Limu find themselves more united and connected than ever, and to help facilitate movement between the allied Clans, the Kun has managed to convince the Dikl’s to help build a network of paths and roads to help make response to attack faster, as well as to help movement of goods from one Clan to another. This development leads itself to the discovery of the wheel, and that lends to the discovery of carts that help carry more supplies at a quicker place than before. This allows the Limu to respond more quickly to instances of skirmish within the Valley, thought these conflicts are rare. Trying to respond to conflicts outside the valley however is more difficult, as the hills prove difficult to climb unless upon pre made paths for the carts.
Thanks to the infiltration of small sections of the Alcos due to members of the Clans who remain loyal to the Kun, the Limu have become aware of the discovery of metals within the hills of the Valley, and the Kun has tasked groups with the extraction of the metals. Thanks in part to their better organization than the Acirema, but also thanks to the impending doom felt by the betrayal of not only the Alcos, but the Thorian Outcasts. The metals are found to be quite easily manipulated, and so are thought to become parts of tools and weapons throughout the Confederation, though there is now a slight competition between the Dikl for each ones attempt to arm their own militia first.

February Steam of Foushoo - Mukoi Splinter Vote: Weapons (10/10)
“These weapons will allow us to protect ourselves from the outside world...hopefully”- Mukoi inventorThe Mukoi, fearing whatever lies beyond the Endless Forest, and the possibility the Orzal will find them, have started fashioning new weapons. These weapons usually find themselves as longer spears, clubs of hardwood, and slings that hold rocks that could be flung. But last and certainly not least, was the invention of the a rock slinger that uses a strong split stick and a string wrung tight, allowing the rocks to be flug at quick speed and with good accuracy. These weapons help the Mukoi hunt small animals and drive away lurking predators around the edge of the forest, though it causes more pain than actual damage.

soundwave -Thorian OutcastsVote: Head South (17/5)
With the War in the Valley of the Ancestors shaking the confidence of the Thorian Clan in the ability of the Kun, and the Limu Confederation, to settle the matter in a reasonable way. The Thorians have Outcast themselves from the Valley, hoping to escape from the war.
The Thorian Outcasts have started to move south, joined by Limcas, Alcos and Acirema alike hoping to escape from the war. They manage to make it quite far south, passing the main hills that form the valley and moving further south to another group of rolling hills, with a forest to their slight east, and further south there is a heavy fog.
They have not yet settled down, but thanks to the many generations between this exodus and the last one, they manage to find a good amount of supplies from each point they rest along the way. The Thorians as a whole feel that they are going the right way.
With their Tubers and Poars they have enough to eat with the occasional gathering and hunting trip. The Dikl in charge of the Clan maintains his leadership in these new times, relying heavily on his militia guards.
