I did see those, but yeah, we need something web based that can be embedded using HTML.

Aww man, now I have to update the requirements for the first few posting levels in the FAQ.

Not really. I never found a chat client which ticked all the boxes. If anyone wants to help search for one I'd appreciate it.

Wheeled animals are likely impossible, but I would like to see how someone would use them in a creature, so maybe they'd be included if LAWK is toggled off. I remember in the His Dark Materials trilogy there were wheeled animals like the one below based on a rhombus-shaped skeletal structure: Also see: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAGEOKAG0zw

I've messed about with some chat plugins on here during the past few days, and so far I'm not overly impressed. Ironically, the best ones seem to be integrated into Wordpress via Buddypress. We considered using Buddypress/bbPress for both the dev and community forums back when setting them up, but went with Discourse and Proboards respectively instead, and it's far, far too late to move now.
A couple of the options I tried, ordered from best to worst:
Kiwi IRC
Pros: Nice design, open-source, free, PMs and group chats Cons: No persistent accounts, ambiguous mod and editing tools, security issues
ChatWING
Pros: Persistent accounts, customisable design, PMs and group chats, full mod tools Cons: Free version lacks many features, frustratingly slow
Mibbit (I didn't actually try this one, but it's on the old forum)
Pros: Not many Cons: Ads in free version, few security options, annoying design

That's intended as a deterrent for people joining the dev team just because they have a few ideas. Going crazy with irrelevant conceptualising on here is perfectly fine, but we don't want it on the dev forum (it's why we set this whole forum up in the first place). It doesn't look attractive or professional if all the "development" work going on is actually just speculation about impossibilities.

That's the plan, if it's doable.

I've no idea what's going on here, but nine posts from Atrox in a row? Editing is a thing...

Also, could there be something for when the website has problems or is down for maintenance, like a special page with an asteroid crashing into a planet? Nice idea but I've no idea if that's possible, seeing as if the website's down like the time before we won't actually be able to edit anything on it.

I was looking for actual serious suggestions, you realise?

I've been wondering lately whether any changes should be made to any of Thrive's internet presences to make them more appealing or engaging, whether it's adding new features or links or something else. This thread is for suggesting anything you'd like to see on the website, the dev forum, the community forum, the subreddit, etc. Like ideas for the game itself, we won't do everything everybody suggests, but someone might think up something we hadn't even considered which turns out to be really useful.
Here are a few of my own ideas - what do you all think of these?
- A chat client thing on the community forum (for whole forum chat, group chats and private chats); brought up recently in the shoutbox - A list of recent topics from the dev and community forum in the community forum's sidebar, and maybe even displayed somewhere on the website - Better-looking links on the website home page to the forums and gameplay overview (possibly using images as links)
Suggest away!

That's obviously planned, but not for the near future. As far as I know the texture can just be overlaid with a shader, and that shader coloured, so we could potentially have new colours and patterns.

Yes, it's possible to get to individual posts and we've known that from the start. What you can't access (unless it's what you meant) is the list/archive of all the posts, the main news page.
