Oh! I've watched that show, it was interesting. Also, I just realised why the Cephalos from Monster Hunter is called the Cephalos. idk what you are talking about, but k Capcom game. Cephalos has the same head shape and it goes on land, but prefers to swim in the sand.

I had the video stopped at 13:38, but the main point of the reason I posted the video was at 16:23 or something like that, where the Cephalaspis started being slaughtered by the Brontoscorpio. The Cephalaspis had to slide across land in order to get to their birthing pool to lay their eggs and fertilize them... Which would be a pretty interesting thing to do in Thrive if the environments change or something like that, and you need to be able to slide over portions of land in order to get to the place you lay eggs and stuff. Oh! I've watched that show, it was interesting. Also, I just realised why the Cephalos from Monster Hunter is called the Cephalos.

The only problem I see with this: How are you supposed to become a civilisation if you're smaller than a Tarantula? Civilisation would only be possible if you got enough food in the First place. Also, I don't think that a (big) brain would fit in such a small creatures skull. Thrive is planning to not force you to have to advance, meaning you can be a creature as long as you want. You can also let other creatures pass you as an option, meaning you could stay as a tiny little guy and they could go to space.

I remembered our little friend, the Pygmy Gecko, today. Pygmy Geckos have ultrahydrophobic skin and are very, very, very small and light. This means that they don't break the surface tension of the water, so they're little Jesus lizards. Do you guys think that this might be a feature later on?

What if we're just creatures in the industrial stage of another game called Thrive, and we're just continuing the cycle by creating this game? What kind of cruel gamer would allow an orange and a meme hater to run for president of America? And they can't decide on a Prime Minister for us down under. Why did they even create Australia, why did you give us the Platypus? They just put all the venomous animals and poisonous plants down here. Damn dinosaur cassowaries.

Say you've already completed the game on a planet, you could select the saved planet and decide to go back to the very beginning, maybe in a different version so you can return to your old one. If you do this, you can create a new species that will evolve at the same time as your previous species. The previous species would evolve the same way as before and make similar decisions to the ones you made. They could change if you have a significant impact on them though, say you push their tribes to the brink of destruction, but they were peaceful in your playthrough, they will become more aggressive than before. This could let people create creatures that would help or hinder other creations in the future, allowing for some storytelling almost. Not sure if it would be possible, but it could make for some very interesting creature combinations, as you could influence how the planet and it's ecosystem worked. What do you guys think?

Does this mean that something like a cheetah (which is larger than a turtle) will perceive time faster than a turtle because of its metabolism rates? I mean that makes sense but should some of it depend of size? Like some form of equations or should it all depend on metabolic rate and brain processing time? Some of it should depend on size, but that could be pretty hard to implement. As far as I know, that's how it works in real life. I think that part of it also has to dowith how quickly the signals get through the brain and are processed, so the smaller animals have much less distance for the signals to travel. I don't fully understand it, it's a tough subject.

Yeah I just looked it up. Never knew that before and that's actually really cool! Yeah, I learned about it from a few documentaries, I love evolution and seeing how animals function. Did you know that flies have special organs that vibrate to detect changes in the area around them? They also perceive time very slowly compared to us. Our 'fast' swats at them are child's play to avoid. It's a really cool feature in nature that would add a new layer of complexity to your species. Making your metabolism and size more important to your design could either help to create more unique and interesting creatures that push to be as large as they can, while retaining the ability to have a slowed down perception of time. On the other hand, it could be a hinderance to a lot of players, stopping them from creating the creatures that they want and having fun playing as it. Maybe as an optional thing, like gronked senses. It'd be pretty neat to create a creature that perceives time slowly and uses echolocation, that'd be a neat mix.

If we do implement it I don't think it should deal with size. Time perception should either be an eye or a brain upgrade. One problem with this is that size and metabolism are the things that cause the difference in perception, at least that's what is believed currently. The faster the creatures metabolism and the smaller it is, the slower it perceives time. So having a big creature with a very fast metabolism would be really bad. Sorry if any of this info is incorrect, it's a bit late down under and I'm not amazing at researching things in depth.

If a creature is smaller, they perceive time slower, so if you create something small, would that effect the way you see the world? Because if not, being a fast, small, flying creature could be very hard to control. I don't have any coding knowledge, so I don't know how hard this could be to implement.
