So i was browsing the interwebs and I found a neat little game called "Niche". I downloaded the version 1 demo and it was pretty fun. I'm not sure how exactly how some mechanics could be used in thrive, but it's cool and about evolution and genetics. Oh, I didn't think of it like that. I guess it kinda is.

I like what you're proposing. It would be nice to be able to rename elements into strange alien sounding names. How about everything gets a random name and you can rename it any time?

This talk is kinda what I was going for, where the cell you create isn't necessarily labeled a specific type of cell, but is measured for it's capabilities and then used accordingly. I was also thinking that in the drag and drop style menu you can label each different kind of cell to whatever you need, so if you create what you want to be a neurone you can just label it as such. I feel this allows for more freedom while creating and adds more fun. Let me know what you guys think (I'm also amazed my post got so much attention ).

Today I learned that Xylem tissue is dead tissue when mature, but the cells are still alive in the Phloem.

From the moment an organism becomes multicellular it's cells can start to differentiate and specialize. I've been seeing talk of a caste systems for individuals of a species so you can create things like ant colonies (workers, queens, etc) but it's also important for the multicellular (maybe aware) stage's cells, so you can start making things like muscle cells, neurones, even stem cells. I'm thinking of being able to develop each type of cell independently kinda like in the microbe editor but being able to the drag and drop them into place to create a functioning multicellular organism . It's probably been discussed but I couldn't find a thread relating specifically to this.

So I was browsing around and I found a thread about DNA creation where fabulousman was talking about being able to modify a creature's DNA directly in the editor via window. So now I'm thinking about in species alre and how each creature has it's own genome, and maybe we could do that in thrive as a way to share creatures or something along those lines.

So I was thinking about mass extinction events on earth and I thought maybe they could be put into thrive. Things that could trigger them might be a drastic change in oxygen levels (like the great oxygenation event), a collapse of the food chain, meteors, etc. I'm also trying to figure out how to make it fair so your species doesn't just randomly die, because that's nothing but frustrating. Maybe adding a warning would help.

The microbe stage is becoming more and more complete and this got me thinking about multicellular. One thought led to another and now I'm trying to figure out how basic organisms reproduce in the multicellular stage. The stage begins when 2 cells stick together, and how do they reproduce? It has to start out asexually, but at what point will gametes be able to evolve, and how would they work?

Two left feet: Create a creature with two left feet (multicellular/aware)
Edit: I thought of some more.
Biker gang: create a pack of creatures who all have two organic wheels (multicellular/aware)
A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link: make a strong army with one weak unit and have the army be defeated because of it (society/industrial/space)
A golden key can open any door: have your species invent a device that can hack any electronic lock (industrial/space)
Ku-alah the spirit tree: have your species develop a religion around a tree (awakening/society)

Hello, I've been watching thrive grow and develop over the past couple years and I thought that I would finally jump straight in. I'm really exited and I hope thrive will be one of the classics.
