I'm probably a bit biased, but the fencing tactical wheel could probably have some sort of effect on the game. The idea is each "spoke" on the wheel counters the previous one. Example: an attack is countered by a parry, then a parry is countered by a disengage, then a counter attack, and so forth

I feel like this is a huge favor to ask of anyone, but I'm in need of a logo and banner for my YouTube channel. If anyone is willing to help me out in anyway it would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

My understanding is that they'll be searching for evidence of life, current or past, with much more sophisticated machinery than Viking ever used. Otherwise it's really just the coolest most expensive, most inspiring publicity stunt in history. I'm 90% percent sure companies trying to reach Mars receive grants for their work. I highly doubt a company would spend billions of dollars just as a publicity stunt.

Every time a new member joins the Thrive team, you should just send a link to them that plays The A Team music.

I think a portion of the programming is being done in C++, though I'm not sure exactly how much is being done in Lua. C++ is a fairly low-level language, so can offer particularly good performance compared to more modern languages. I agree that lag could become an issue, though, and with a game that's constantly evolving, optimisation could easily become an afterthought. I like to think whether it will become an issue or not depends on how old the programmers' computers are. Sounds great I'm just a bit concerned since this isn't a professionally organized project. I don't mean to be at all offensive to anyone on the project, but Species: ALRE is like Thrive in terms of organization. Species: ALRE I think is a complete disaster. They took a great idea and turned into a game that at times seems almost unplayable. I understand it is in Alpha, but it crashes left and right with pathetically weak programming. When it was made known to the public via numerous YouTubers, it is becoming more and more forgotten.

Anyone know any good, free video editors? I don't want a trial or anything like that, just a completely free editor. In terms of free video editors, the standard editing program on Windows I supposed to be the best. Unfortunately, it's hard to get a good editing software without paying.

If any of you have ever played Species: ALRE you will certainly know that it comes with it's fair share of performance issues. I have a fairly beefy desktop gaming computer that cost me around 600$ and I still have issues with lag while playing Species: ALRE. My point is Thrive is calling for similar, if not more complex calculations once we get to using auto-evo. I'm not exactly a programmer, but if I remember correctly Lua, the programming language we are currently relying on is much slower than more mainstream coding languages. I suggest that we switch coding languages soon before the game becomes unplayable simply due to lag. Another issue we need to focus on would be debugging Thrive so further performance issues don't arise.
Correct me if I am wrong on any topic
Edit: when I say lag I mean 1-5fps slow

I have a philosophical question that has been in my head for quite a while: what is a real fan? A fan is someone following a movement, project, or group showing great support.

If you wanted retro you could have Mario hit a question mark block the explodes into Max Headroom before sweeping away to representative icons of games you intend to play. edit: and should definitely include some manner of cheeky Pac Man reference I think I might try something similar, the only problem now is figuring how the Belgium Blender works.

I would like to also make youtube videos. What would one need to start up their channel? Well it isn't cheap, even to start. It depends on how much you are willing to sacrifice. My startup includes an elgato hd60 game capture, a blue snowball microphone, and a good computer. You could probably get away with just a free capture off the internet, but that comes with lots of lag. For a mic you could just go with text based stuff. Danny2462 does a great job of doing that. If you ever need someone to play a multiplayer game with for your channel just message me.

Hopefully the project will continue to experience a snowball effect in its development, as new features bring in new developers who help develop new features faster to bring in more new developers. From what I have seen thus far it is already snowballing. We have two great YouTubers (3 if you count me) supporting this game. More than likely it will bring some major publicity.

I'm working on an intro animation for my YouTube channel and I would really appreciate some ideas. I know I want to go for a bit of a retro theme, but other than that I'm unsure. Any ideas would help. Edit: scratch the retro theme I think I am open to anything What are your videos about, and what kind of intro-making tech do you have access to? It is going to be a gaming channel and I have access to blender. I don't really want to spend a Belgium ton of money on Sony Vegas. I already have a $1000+ setup.
