Name: Waywardians (The_Wayward_Admiral)
Description: Flat, translucent disc-shaped creatures only 1 millimeter in diameter. They are technically bilaterally symmetrical due to gene products, but their total lack of features renders this somewhat difficult to appreciate. The creatures have twelve "sections" on each side of their body denoted by slight ridges in their undifferentiated flesh. They have a basic sac gut, with which they consume small bits of plant matter. These beings were selected to act as feed to larger aquatic organisms, and are currently being seeded into shallow continental waters.
Evolutions:
1) A notochord running along their back, which allows for better communication among their cells.
2) Sensory nerves, which will detect pressures, temperatures, pain, and textures and allow for proprioception.
3) Motor nerves, which will greatly increase their ability to move their bodies in reaction.
4) A Coelom, which will eventually hold their organs, but for now is just a fluid filled cavity making them somewhat larger and stiffer.
5) A Chitinous Exoskeleton, which will offer basic protection from attack, but it has large gaps at all eleven section junctions, and it is very primitive, so it has few chitin layers and its molecular arrangement is very crystalline so it can shatter with the right impact.
+Relocation to reefs
1) Nerve Clusters at the head, to better process sensory data and allow for basic memory.
2) Internal Cartilage Supports, to maintain a body structure independent of the exoskeleton.
3) V-Striated Skeletal Muscle, which will allow for faster, stronger, and more controlled movements.
4) Oxygen Collecting Tissue Patches, which will eventually become gills, but for now allow for higher energy lifestyles.
5) Less Crystalline Chitin Arrangement, which will prevent shattering from angular impacts to the exoskeleton.
6) They've had to grow, and are now roughly 6 cm (or a little under 3 inches) in diameter.
Name: Bear Trap Moss (Immortal_Dragon)
Description: An inhabitant of temperate forest floors, the Bear Trap Moss is a very simple organism in terms of evolution, but has taken an evolutionary step very few to possibly no other has. It appears as a round patch of mossy ground about half a meter in diameter, but underneath is the organism itself. It is semi-bonded with the Noofuzz Moss that grows on top of and around it, using the Noofuzz as a cover as well as a trickle of sustenance from photosynthesis. However, what the Bear Trap hides inside its body is what's most extraordinary, a simple cardiovascular and nervous system much like a simple animal. This system is specialized into making the organism curl up, or more often, spontaneously fold in half when trod upon. What makes this action deadly, however, are a number of calcified spikes that spring out from the organism's interior in an attempt to pierce the hide of prey. These spikes then inject a mixture of toxins and digestive enzymes into the prey as the Bear Trap stays latched on. It is through these wounds that the Bear Trap will digest its prey from the inside out. During times of plenty, these organisms can be seen in clusters of up to 18 individuals, turning a wide area of forest floor into a veritable minefield. During times of famine, these organisms start to release spores containing their complete genome, creating new individuals from these spores that are launched up and into the wind, and hopefully into an area with more plentiful food. These spores, while able to easily catch the wind, are not at all adapted to arid or cold environments and thus will die if they enter these conditions or stay in them for too long.
Name: Noofuzz Moss
(Immortal_Dragon)
Description: A simple moss from the same planet as the above organism. A light brown in color and likes to grow on the ground. Reproduces via spores just like the Bear Trap.
Name: Batis (namoon)
A small, batlike creature. It has recently become sapient. Feeds on fruits and insects and is commonly hunted by predators. Is getting sent down into forests.
Name: Shade Woulf (namoon)
A large wolf-like creature. It has unusual ability to blend in with it's surroundings, similar to a chameleon. Eats meat and hunts in packs. A very vicious predator. Is getting sent down in highland areas.
Name: Toxic Calo (namoon)
A large unsect. It is extremely toxic. It has eyes in a circle around it's head, it can see in 360 degrees at once. Eats smaller insects and other toxic calo. Is getting sent down in jungles.
Name: Triceragaster (mitobox)
Description: This creature creeps along the coastal seafloor. It resembles a limpet, with a kite-shaped shell. The shell is ivory-colored, while the slimy mollusk under it is violet with a blue "rim". Its name comes from its three short prongs attached laterally to the front of its shell, forming a "mohawk".
Triceragasters are territorial, maintaining an area of algae-coated seafloor, protecting the algae as food. Intruders are prodded with horns and muscled off.
Name: Rautiza
(Immortal_Dragon)
Description: A simple arthropod from another world, the Rautiza grows about as long as two human hands set end-to-end, and is covered in flanged plates along its sides that aid in in movement through the water in an undulating up and down motion. It's head has two bulbous compound eyes that let it see in the water, though it's rather short-sighted and can't see very well directly in front of it. Its shape is relatively uniform, but tapers at the end in four longer plates that act as a sort of tail. Its entire body is covered in these segmented plates that act as a sort of armor, however, it is a filter feeder. It uses two plates across its mouth cavity that open rapidly and suck in algae and plankton. When it comes time to breed, they spawn much like fish on Earth do. They make their home around the shallows of oceans as well as around reefs.
Name: Nuitmere (Night mother in French)
(Atrox)
Description:
Nuitmeres are large, relatively flat organisms. They have two long arms ending in hook-like claws which they use to drag themselves around. Their arms are connected to their tails by a muscular membrane, which is lined with brightly colored tendrils. They have a triangular head, which possesses a single sound-producing orifice, photoreceptor cells and more orange tendrils hanging off the bottom. These tendrils contain chemical receptors and are sensitive to vibrations, allowing the organism to smell, taste, and feel the air and ground around it with a high degree of accuracy. About half of these tendrils are longer then the others and contain a paralyzing venom in the tips. The underside of the membrane is semipermeable and contains glands that secrete digestive fluids on command.
When night falls, these creatures skulk through the forest, using the echos of their high pitched chirps to make out shapes in the darkness. If they detect something unusual, they will crawl over to the object and run their tendrils over it to determine if it is food. If so, the paralyzing agent takes effect and prevents the Nuitmere's prey from escaping as the Nuitmere crawls over it. Once in position, the Nuitmere curls its tail underneath its prey and rolls up its body like a blanket, engulfing its prey. The Nuitmere then uses its claws to drag itself to a safe place to properly digest its food. Once safe, the Nuitmere secretes digestive fluids onto the wrapped up creature, and reabsorbs its liquefied prey through the membrane. After many hours of digesting its food, the Nuitmere unravels itself and skulks off to find more food, leaving behind waste and indigestible material.
In situations where they are starving, they are able to use their tail as a third limb to actively chase down their prey.
Picture:
Name: Tyranite (Stealthstylel)
It has a long protected black exoskeleton, that houses all it's organs, and attached to the side of this are four fleshy fins to power the animal through the ocean. However, due to the weight of the exoskeleton, they are not the fastest. What they do have though are four muscular forward-pointing tentacles that are used for grabbing prey, and stuffing them into a very strong mouth. It has eyes but they are fairly weak and Tyranites utilise electro reception to hunt down prey. It is overall about 4m in length.
Kamikaze mouse (mx)
Description:
The kamikaze mouse has a very short life cycle where it gorges on any plant or animal matter that is easily attainable and low risk. In the first year of its life it is an incredibly fast, weary scavenger gathering large fat deposits on its body. In its second year of life the kamikaze mouse slows down considerably and begins a reckless suicidal streak, purposefully jumping out in front of predators.
The kamikaze mouse does not give birth like regular marsupials. Rather they form roughly 8 sacs or eggs within their stomach that is covered by keratin to prevent them breaking down due to their or other creatures digestive enzymes. These eggs have a long incubation time which cause the young to be born roughly in their adult form. During the 2nd year of a kamikaze mouse's life the sacs within them grow to a point where the carrier is in unbearable pain and instinct has it throw itself at the nearest warm blooded predator.
For larger animals this means carrying the sacks to term as they are slowly pushed through the digestive system and "ahem" have them come out the other end hatched or just about hatched. In this instance the process is symbiotic the eggs gain incubation and the larger animal has gained a free meal (if you count passing mice as free).
For smaller animals this means the eggs get stuck in their digestive tract and when the eggs hatch the live Kamikaze mice young eat their carrier from the inside out to escape their digestive juices. In this instance the process is parasitic the eggs gain incubation and a free meal and the host gains painful death.
Should the kamikaze mouse not be successful in being devoured it will eventually die through starvation as its stomach becomes completely filled by the eggs. The eggs then in turn die as its mothers carcass does not retain enough heat to incubate them.
As versatile as most rodents the kamikaze mouse thrives primarily in forested zones where it can hide and survive but in a pinch can survive in any zone that is not in the extreme heat ranges. This species can quickly spread in its more emboldened second year without strict quarantines.
This species was introduced quite by mistake into the highlands in the digestive system of a shade woulf that had not been properly scanned at customs.
Name: Purpleweed
(Stealthstyle L)
This is a parasitic plant that has been know to destroy entire forests on its home planet. As the name suggests, it is a purple colour, and it has the appearance of a very long root. However, it has sharp thorns embedded in it to protect it from predators. This plant tunnels its way into tree trunks through the use of a chisel like structure at the end of the 'roots.' Using this, it scrapes away the wood until it finds the phloem and xylem of the plant. It then 'hijacks' all the minerals and nutrients it needs to grow, which is why it sometimes goes by the alternative name of pirate plant. Eventually, it reaches the top of the tree where it releases its seeds to spread. If allowed to continue, the tree will soon die.
name : Scavengers
(aquos)
description : Scavengers are pterosaur like creature's with a a short flat head with 4 eye's and a long sharp beak with sharp teeth they have two reltivly large wings and a long tail ending in a knot like thing wich can 'spray' (couldn't find a better word) feromones . the creature has bad eyesight only seeing as far as about
5 meters altough they can see everything in those 5 meters with extreme detail lucky for them they have an extremly good smell and since every Scavenger has an unique set of feromones they can use this to reconize and find eachother (and attract mate's) as the name suggests they're mostly scavengers living mostly of the carcasses of dead animals altough they to catch smaller creatures and even fish somtimes in other to help attract mate's they have extremely detailed colouring on they're body (wich aare always a combination of red and black) they have a pouch in wich they mostly cary food and during pregnancy females will cary their eggs in it they're highly social animals usually living in colonies of about 500 individuals called Seeking Party's (though Party's wil also be good) they moslty comunicate through feromones and have about the intilligence of your everyday monkey (however they lack the problem solving skills to make any tools or anything) and build nests to attract mates and give fish they will usually go out in groups of 20 to 30 individuals and will attack any thread they see they mostly live on tropical enviroments (like jungle's) bordering shores (where they find mostly of their food)
Name: Gravorian (TheGraveKnight)
Description: An amphibious carnivore that inhabits mangroves and brackish swamps. At a 3 meters long, they rely on ambush tactics, utilizing their four large eyes to see from below the surface before launching at them with a flick of their tail. While their skin can change color in order to blend in with their environment, their usual skin tone is that of a light grey. When not hunting they can usually be seen basking on sand bars or fighting in territorial disputes. Their breeding habits are almost indistinguishable from their usual disputes, the only exception being nearby females while males are battling it out.
Name: Hamalus (Stealthstyle L)
Description: A herbivore, quite large in stature (about 4m long), that frequents swamps and mangroves. Some would say it is rather tapir-like, but they do not have a long snout. They have long lips for reaching for the delicious fruits that grow in the mangroves. Their thick legs end in webbed feet to speed up swimming and they have a vicious kick. Also for protection are two large canines in its mouth. They are a browny colour.
Name: Arnacathrix
(Immortal_Dragon)
Description: An arboreal forager that usually stands 3.5 meters tall, the Arnacathrix can be best described as an armored bipedal reptile. It features two thick, muscular legs much like that of a theropod from Earth, though its feet feature two thick toes on the front and two similarly shaped toes on the back. Its body is wide and barrel-like, primarily around its stomach area, and a long tail that tapers into a thin (though not whip-like) tip at the end extends backwards for balance. Its torso carries armor plates on the front and back (where it's thicker), running along the back of the tail and armoring the legs just beyond the knees. This armor extends up a thick medium-length neck where its head rests. This head possesses a short and stubby muzzle, with a split lower jaw. This maw is filled with slightly curved prong-like teeth that it uses to rake along branches to tear down leaves and fruits to eat. A tongue edged with teeth-like ridges helps with this, highly flexible and even slightly prehensile to catch torn off fruit. Two pairs of completely black eyes sit above this maw on the sides of the head, and a somewhat mediocre sense of smell is given by a pair of small slit-like nostrils above the center of its maw. It possesses two muscular arms that are completely armored up, but any sort of hands have long since fused into long singular digits much like the ends of the arms of a praying mantis, with small blunt spikes that are used to rake at branches and other forms of plant life to get food. They usually live in herds of a couple dozen individuals.
Morgullistrandranax (lowry)
Description:
A large, short haired, bipedal predator. Roughly the size of two humans, with 4 wide, thick toes, finished in a boney cap. With arms approximately 3 quarters of their leg length, finished with yet another 4 digits, each sporting a boney stub at the very tip. Their straight tails (that sway from side to side) are prickled with shorter quill-like hairs that stand on end when andrenaline hits. Head wise, they sport a thick rounded upper jaw, fitted with crooked and twisted teeth of varying sizes, meanwhile their lower mandible shows a row of once again crooked though longer teeth, two large, thick, almost blade like tusks jut from the side of their jawline, coming around a quarter of a metre further forward than the tip of their snouts. They boast a hearty and efficient cardiovascular system met equally by an adequate respiratory system. An acute sense of smell is enhanced by a bundle of nerves and extra sensory spots for a pinpointly accurate tracking tool, although small their eyes are roughly as effective as a humans, though they tend to be able to see a broader range of yellow than any other colour. They have two holes in the sides of their heads, used as ears. They're coloured with varies grassy yellows and oranges, browns and even the odd greys.
Habbitat; Morgullistrandranax hail from a the cool steppe of a sapient creatures home world. Here, they reside in the near far south, a steppe fairly similar to Earths great Pleistocene expanses.
Behaviour; they hunt herd based megafauna, searching for a kill every 2-3 days. They essentially impale their victim of choice with their tusks, charging at least 3 times untik enough wounds are open for the prey to either feint in pain or submit to their death. They communicate using a chemical scent based system, emitting a scent through pore orrifaces to signal warnings, food, mate or emotions. Though seemingly solitary every fortnight or so the gather in largepacks to socialise of sorts. Makes rut for competition over food or mates, often the loser is devoured after being injured. Young are viciously protected by both parents and eggs consist of a thick leathery hide. The older the Morgullistrandranax the richer their emotive scents, displaying strength and dominance. Females often survive longer than males, less fighting. Oddly females unable to bare children are quite often gifted children, it's thought that the Morgullistrandranax can tell this again by scent.
Name: Allias (Skyguy98)
Description: Avian omnivores the size of bald eagles. Not awakening stage intelligent but getting close. Often form tight knit families that are willing to travel far distances for small game or berries. Most males have dark feathers that blend in well with the night while females have lighter and more colorful feathers that are meant to distract potential preadators from acid gland found in their mouths that they spit while in daanger.females often carry their young in pouches when they are not nesting in high trees. They do not develop their gender until adolesence to help match current population needs. They have great eyesight and sharp claws, but that is manly for hunting.
name : wanderers (aquos)
description : wanderers are creature's resembling a cross between a hippo and a paraceratherium they're big animals growing about 5-10 meters high they have a short head resembling that of the paracetherium with a body resembling that of a hippo they're complete herbivore's eating all vegetation they come across they live in reletvaly big herds of about 10-50 individuals they got their name from the fact that they continuesly migrate in order to spare vegetation do this they come across a wide variety of climate's and biome's and are equally adapted to this on their backs they have two long bult like things n wich they can store massive amounts of fat for cold enviroments or massive amounts of water for fry enviroments (wich they avoid at all cost given there is not enough vegetation to sustain them but sometimes they have to cross them) their feed are adapted to spreid their weight as much as possible for muddy enviroments their nostrils are placed highly on their head incase they have to swim they have a small fur covering their two side's but nothing covering their back or underside their only protection come's from the fact that they live in herds and that they can crush any predetaor if needed onder their weight
Name: Dublend (mitobox)
Description: A bizarre, hoofed quadruped with a gray, bare hide and two heads. One is in the front, elongated, and with a mouth and drooping ears, but completely blind, and focuses on eating. The other, situated where a tail would be, is round and flat, with no mouth but two comically large human-like eyes, usually a deep violet. Both heads are hubs of nervous activity, but are so in sync that it is difficult to say whether or not they are individuals or a whole. As the front head grazes, the posterior head keeps lookout, alerting the former whenever a predator approaches. From there, the blind head uses whatever information its seeing partner can provide to stay ahead during the escape. This is facilitated by the posterior head's wide neck turning radius.
Much to the seeing head's annoyance, the blind head will wander to wherever tasty undergrowth is, ignoring other concerns like visiblity. This leads to them mostly feeding in jungle areas, although, on a good day, it will wander onto grasslands instead.
Name: Mantis-Cheetah(elementalred)
Description: A pack hunter that lives in savannahs. It ressembles a weird mix between a praying mantis and a cheetah: It's legs, arms and head is covered by a chitinous exoskeleton; its two mantis arms are used to slash (and potentially catch) their prey; Its head is arthropod-like; the legs end with three digits (2 toes in front, 1 inback), the torso is covered with eyespoted fur.
Name: Nafelak(Narotiza)
Description: Omnivorous animals that are related to the Nafryani of Nafryus (think how gorillas are related to humans, in that they share a common ancestor). They have six legs, and their front legs can be used as arms. Nafelak have reddish-purple fur with cyan bioluminescent spots, which can be turned on and off and are used for communication. They are very cooperative and intelligent.
Picture:
name : weeping sting(aquos)
description : weeping stings are insectoid organisms roughly the size of a bear they have four eye's and have an extremely good vision on they also heve a scorpion like tail with a poisonous sting on the end of it (wich is where they got the second part of their name from) they have sharp claws wich they mainly use to climb in trees their omnivorous and will basicly eat anything they come across though they prefer meat they have two pincers on their face wich they use to bite their that they can simmlelar to a parrot they use this abilyty to learn in prey and to attract mates on their home planet they made it a profession to hunt sentient creatures by producing simelar sounds to this species 'crying' which is where they got the first part of their name from they're venom is highly poisonous however it can take a 2-3 weeks for bigger organisms to succumb to it (smaller organisms usually succumb to it after a few houres) do to this they have evolved to chase their prey untill it succumbs eating only vegetation in the meantime they're highly terretorial and solitary they will only come to gehter to seek a mate wich they will stay together with for their whole live and will share their terrotory with them (wich will usually become bigger after this) they will also care very well for their childeren but will kick them out of their terrortory after they matured they're reletavly intelligent animals and will observe their prey to see which sounds could lure them in
Earthquake Mole:
(namoon)
A mole that is roughly the size of an elephant. Their looks resemble that of a star-nosed mole. When they dig, it causes a tremor, hence it's name. IT hunts by putting a large rock onto their burrow. Once they smell prey, the shove the rock over and attack it. They live in plains. They weren't supposed to be sent, onto the planet, but they escaped the ship they were on and landed there.
Deceivers:(namoon)
Small, furry mammals. They look like a cross between a dog and a rabbit. Because of their cute nature, and their friendliness, many animals become friendly with them. Once the other animals get close enough friends, the deciever licks them. Their saliva contains a venom capable of killing an adult human. They live anywhere, most commmonly in temperate and snowy forests.
New Species!: Malburo(TheGraveKnight)
The Malburo is among one of the strangest organism out there. Resembling something of a ram mixed with a buffalo, it lives on steep mountain rock faces where it usually spends it's days grazing in the lowlands in the morning and evening whilst returning to the rock faces for midday and night. They possess one of the strangest defense mechanisms in the natural world. When threatened, it releases a puff of smoke from it's mouth so chemical-ridden, it can cause diseases from a simple headache to even cancer. Their only real weakness is that they cannot really survive anywhere else.
Name: Bristleshell
(mitobox)
Description: A creature similar to a Glyptodont, but with flat, knobbed back armor more like an Ankylosaur. It has a rugged, bristled hide ranging from pale brown to gray and incisors well-equipped for tough vegetation. The eyes are orange, and rather small, positioned to the sides of the head. Its tail lacks a defensive club, but is still very thick. They are mostly solitary, occasionally banding together for safety, and inhabit dry grassland (steppe) areas. The shell helps guard their cumbersome, nutrient and water-storing innards.
