Dev Update #0 - Welcome...to Jurassic Park our New Forum
Hey look, a shiny new forum for all your Thrive discussion needs! Here you can talk about the game, its future, your game experiences and all manner of other things, all with other Thrive fans and developers.
Some of you may be wondering why we have this in the first place. With the original development forum, we sometimes met issues where development and fan discussion would overlap, including suggestions for features we weren't anywhere near to adding.
Over the past year, we've made an effort to reduce the volume of unproductive posts on our forums, coinciding with increased use of other methods of communication between the core development team. This left a gap for community discussion and opportunities for fans to ask questions in an environment where they'll reliably find the answers. Our subreddit is already pretty good at this job, but we felt we needed more.
Enter this forum board. Whereas before we've been trying to reduce irrelevant conversation, here we're actively telling you to let your imagination run wild.
Want to share some fan art? You can do that here.
Want to know how evolution will work? You can do that here.
Want to finally solve the conundrum of underwater civilizations and have your name enshrined in stone for all eternity? You can try, but unfortunately even here you can't do that. Sorry.
Overall, we hope you have fun, but we ask that you keep all this type of discussion away from development from now on. If you feel you do want to help out (we are open-source after all), read this, and we look forward to your involvement. Also, one request: try not to overhype anything, especially if you're posting outside this forum. We are an open-source volunteer team developing this game for free, so we can't promise speed or polish.
We can promise persistence. And nerdy jokes.
Thanks in advance,
Revolutionary Games
P.S. This subforum will be used for semi-regular development updates in future, with summaries of recent progress. If we fail to keep up with our updates (bi-monthly or so), do us a favour and shout very loudly somewhere on this forum. That is all.
