Hi guys, as a guy who still plays spore, I have a few ideas in mind, well for every single stage to be honest, but this is something that I really want to talk about. What I really liked in spore was the differentiation between being industrial, militaristic, and religious. However, I don't like how in depth any of them went. Industrial is basic as just trading, military is taking over, and religious is conversion. I'm just here to talk about religion... for now. What would be really cool, is the creation of your own religion, such as forming what kind of philosophy your people would follow, and perhaps what your god is supposed to look like. This would add a huge amount of depth, as you are actually capable of creating something that could be even more unique to your species, and will even be further interact-able when engaging with other aliens. Of course to go with this idea, it doesn't mean like in spore that you are only supposed to be religious, you can be whatever you want, if you want to have a huge military, who are driven religiously, or you have religious people who think the goal is to make a lot of money, you can do that. I'll talk about industry and military later. Toodles!
Moderator Edit: Hey, I moved this thread to allow for more in depth, on topic discussion.

Hey there! So just a quick thought that may benefit this discussion: I think argothanian , that your idea could receive more attention as it's own thread (in addition to avoiding an off topic tangent here). If you would like, message me and I can move it, or you can construct a new thread to discuss it specifically. The only reason I bring this up is that the title of this thread is not as specific as would direct people to your topic, and while the title of this thread implies generality, the original post seems to focus on the three ideas presented. Welcome to the forums! Edit: Much like Vault 101's overseer, this post exists to keep us all safe and involves no personal gratification. Have you taken your G.O.A.T?

This thread was moved, so stealthstylel and my comments make little to no sense now... anyway...
Religion is set to be procedural. Basically all that that entails is to consider a player's culture, history, and environment to produce a play-through unique religion. Exactly how in depth that will get, and what will be seen of it by the player is beyond my understanding, given how far removed from it we are.

Haha, awesome to see this has its own thread, makes me feel kinda special. Anyways, I'm gonna get into my military idea. When I thought of military battles between two different star systems, I wouldn't think of an empire sending a single space ship to be its errand boy and gun down the planet. What I would realistically think, is the empire loading up a fleet, beaming down said fleet, and using land, sea, and air units to take down the planet, from the planet. When these kind of wars happen, I thought of an RTS style kind of game, where the fleet can consist of soldiers, tanks, ships, planes, engineers, medics, and so on. The type of unit would be completely custom (although it's just the type of unit that would be custom) and the player would be able to use an outfitter to differentiate his units, and this would range from what the gun looks like, to what the unit is actually wearing. And like spore, the vehicles are completely able to be customized as well. (But like in spore you would make these vehicles and units in the civilization like stage) Now here is something complex I thought of that might not be possible, but I'm throwing it out there anyways. Now bear with me here, you ever played the game Mud and Blood 2? It's a pretty good game, and the only thing I'm taking from it, is the ranking system. In MnB2, every time a soldier gets to 10 XP, he ranks up. I think that the same should go for this game, but instead of just getting better at killing, they also become more independent. Let's say you just got sent a bunch of recruits, and they're all privates, and you have one sergeant. What you can do is assign those privates to the sarge, and he'll make strategic tactics based on what orders you gave him. Example: Let's say you sent a group of men to kill some people, and they are having a tough time, and let's say you're also too busy fighting a battle elsewhere, well the sarge would pick the tougher battle, and lead his men into said battle to help you your guys. But that's my idea for a basic effective ranking system. This is what I'll contribute for now to see if you guys like it. If you guys like the idea, I'll continue.
